Falling off the reg

Absolutely will not harm the regulator. When the reservoir pressure falls below the regulator's setpoint, the regulator relaxes.

However do be aware there are a small minority of guns whose valve stem can potentially be damaged from being fired with insufficient pressure. In this already small group of guns, I'm not aware of any so sensitive that they won't tolerate being shot well below the regulator's setpoint. More like you shouldn't shoot them with only 500psi in the tank.

If you don’t go under too far? Not a big deal, although I have observed some regulators not full returning to the exact same place, the real problem lies in little or not enough reg to resist valve travel when basically dry firing, this was a massive issue with earlier Fx guns as the brass housing would peen and pinch the valve stem, not allowing it to return,= open vent 👎🏼
The bottom line is, we all do it, quite regularly, but don’t go too far! When your gun sounds unlike it did before and your poi goes way down, stop and refill

When I am shooting off the bench I keep track of how many shots and watch the gauges.
When I am out shooting ground squirrels or pigeons I don’t waste time keeping track. As others have said the sound changes and shots get erratic.
Time to go back and charge the gun. It has happened many many times and I have yet to replace a reg.
