Faded O-Ring Labels. Don't Wait Until It's Too Late!

Just thought I'd share such a simple thing one can do to make life easier and save money. A few days ago, I was looking for some o-rings that I purchased a while back. I was looking at the labels for a specific size and noticed that the ink on the labels had faded so bad that I couldn't really see the sizes. Granted I'm pushing close to 50 years old and I need reading glasses.

These labels from the O-Ring Store are like old receipts where the ink fades so easily. I decided to mark the sizes with a Sharpie Marker in case they faded into oblivion. The last thing I need is for one of my PCPs' to go down from a simple leak and I can't even read the sizes on the labels in my inventory. Another thing one can do is get some organizer drawers with the labeling to make life easier. For me, a simple Sharpie Marker is economical and works just fine.

Some pics for example...

Good idea! A lot of those labels are printed on heat-sensitive paper. That's how the print, and also why they can fade over time, especially when exposed to light. I once had an entire pelican case full of O-rings for an underwater vehicle be completely faded out. Literally thousands of O-rings in those same packs, and I had no way of knowing the sizes. What a pain it was trying to measure them all to find the few I needed, especially since they were a mix of both metric and imperial. Friggin nightmare!

Good looking out Odoyle! I never knew heating them up would work. The funny thing I was doing earlier was using the zoom on my cellphone to read the numbers and while using my reading glasses. I don't own one of those magnifying glasses. I'm too ashamed to buy them at the hardware store lol. Still in denial. Maybe I'll add one to my Amazon cart lol.

I can imagine that was a big WTF moment lol.
