Does anyone know (definitively) what the factory pressure setting is for the regulator in the 177 Marauder Field and Target? I called Crosman technical support but couldn't get a firm answer, just a guess. Thanks, Chip.
I do not know definitively but This video was done about 2 years ago. If you can believe the marauder guage, it fell off the regulator about 1350 PSI and around 80 shots.
I asked the same question on another forum and the person that answered said 2050 psi. He later revealed himself in other posts to be an engineer at Crosman. For what it's worth, my velocity drops at 1800 psi.
I should probably post this since I'm sure there will be other people looking for this information in the future. These are the 'factory settings' for a 177 Marauder Field and Target (regulated) according to Crosman customer service. Direct copy and paste from the Email I got from them...
Thank you for contacting Crosman.
Unfortunately the regulator in your Marauder should not be adjusted by the customer. Digging deep enough into the gun to get at it would void your warranty.
The gun should also not be fired under 2000PSI, or you will experience increased accuracy issues.
Here is the available information you asked for according to our engineer.
Striker (hammer stroke) at 12 turns in.
Hammer spring preload at 6 turns in
Valve screw 4 turns out
Reg setting at 2050 PSI.
I do advise against adjusting any setting other than the hammer spring.
Saltlake,
I can tell you that the numbers from Crosman for hammer spring, hammer stroke, and valve screw are exactly what my gun was set at from the factory. Remember that this gun comes from the factory with the regulator, so we have no idea if the other internal parts are the same as an un-regulated Marauder. It could be that it comes with a lighter hammer? Lighter hammer spring? Different poppet valve? We don't know because there is no parts list for the Field and Target model available on the Crosman website. We just don't know... Chip

Yes, the testing I have done shooting it across the chronograph leads me to believe the regulator is set right around 1350. I was really disappointed in the level of knowledge available when I called Crosman customer support.
