Very very nice rigs you have there. I’m a lefty though & more a utilitarian than a connoisseur of fine wood I’m afraid to use in fear of lessening value of such beautiful stocks.
May I ask if those are original OEM stocks, if so refinished? The butt pads & spacers look OEM but the grain looks too nice to be factory. Then again they’re almost as old as I am, so maybe that’s what was common back then. Oh, what was original MSRP, current blue book value, and ACTUAL monetary price most would put on any of those 4?
I ask because I have seen some GORGEOUS wood on Daystates, AA, Theobens, etc. In fact I bought one Daystate Air Ranger & when it arrived I was stunned by the factory OEM tiger stripped Walnut. That rifle was sold easily on its gorgeous wood stock alone. I purchased a “higher end” gun more recently and I honestly couldn’t believe the bad quality of the wood. I’m not talking plain jane wood, as it did have some figuring & could have been done right as in sanded properly, pores filled never to shrink and stock bedded. The inlet wasn’t sanded, it had felt movement when handled. I’m not a nit picker but there’s stocks like yours, Minnelli, customs by Vit, Mike McKeown, older GinB’s & Dave G’s. Think about that. I’m a fan of ambidextrous synthetic stocks but remember the quality recieved from GinB or Dave G.? I felt like I was stealing when I recieved guns like those. And don’t get me started on finishing that can scratch off with a fingernail like a lottery ticket compared to a Webley or Air Arms dark blue/black.
So, were your gorgeous girls there the norm of the times or am I expecting too much for even a decent stock? This is just communication on then & now quality. I bet they have micro fine adjustable metal sights. I wish more were offered or even aftermarket options were more widely available. Pyramyd, AOA, I don’t think anyone carries The Williams sights that our air guns need, except Williams themselves & you know how it is dealing with someone who doesn’t know air guns.
