Hi gang, I just bought this F4 177. I previously own a very old crossman pump 22 cal rifle. It's about 80 years old. Always fired with no problems. Sights never needed adjustment. But it finally started to lose power. So I purchased this F4 in it's place. I never had a 177. Or a break load. Very impressive. I am still working on sighting in the scope. Seems to be low and to the left. It might have to be shimmed. I read there is a break in period for the barrel. I can't figure that one? And why would wear on the break hinge cause the sight to go off if the scope is attached to the barrel? Your still looking down the barrel. And the scope is firmly attached. Other than that is shoots great. My arm is hurting from loading. It takes a bit of arm force to cock it.

The barrel is going to have burs in it. Shooting the gun will blast them out little by little. The real break in period is for the coil spring and lube though. Excess lube will burn off and the spring will settle in.
The scope isn't attached to the barrel, its attached to the main tube. The barrel moves independently of that.

I have a Crosman Fire (which is an F4 variant) I got in 2016, it has the og Nitro piston and I put one of the Charlie Da Tuna triggers in it. I smoked a pest bird at 50 yards using JSB 10.34 gr just this spring. She still shoots after 3,000+ pellets and 7 years! Will have to see about lasting decades like your other.
If you didn't do it already it would probably be a good idea to run cleaning patches down the barrel to get manufacturers grease stuff out of there. It'll help with accuracy.
Typically break in period is 300-500 pellets. Like above post says it isn't the barrel itself breaking in as much as it is the action just settling and wearing together.
If yours doesn't have a scope or you want a good one for the price you should try a UTG or Centerpoint brand which are springer rated. The double recoil of spring guns can wreck a normal scope. Also I'd recommend a one piece UTG scope mount with the stop pin to keep the scope in place. Probably Medium height and dovetail base. That's been my setup for years and the scope hasn't moved.

Few years back considered replacing smooth bore barrel on my old Crossman 760 with rifled. Pricing suggested a new F4 Nitro was a wiser choice. CenterPoint 4X scope (junk) that came with gun had to go. Found a CenterPoint 3-9x40AO, never used, on eBay for $50, difference was like night and day. Modified trigger using model racing car wheel bearing as shown in YouTube video, again difference was night and day. (Remember to hold barrel secure, after cocking and while loading, as sometimes the mechanism that holds can fail causing serious harm to you and the gun.) WM

I can't find any info on it. It was my Dad's when he was a kid. Back in the late 1930's. Where would I find the model and serial #?

I just replaced the scope. I used one from my AR-15 that I had changed back to mechanical sites. The scope was a good one from a Jap company that makes cameras. Big difference on accuracy. Got it zeroed in at 100 yards.
