Eyeglasses or not?

Just a few curious questions? For those who have to wear eyeglasses.
1. Do you have single vision or Bi focal?
2. Do you remove them to site trough your scope or leave them on?
3. Do you find that shooting without your glasses more or less accurate?
4. Can you focus through the scope better with or without glasses?

I use progressive lens that gives reading, mid range and distance. I leave my glasses on while shooting rifles. Head placement is critical, maybe more so than for shooters without glasses.

1. I used to wear bifocals.
2. My shooting glass were and are bifocal.
3. I only need reading glasses so the bi-focal shooting glasses are still good.
4. I cataract surgery to correct my distant vision.
5. If you are at a range you always keep your glasses on or you will be asked to leave.

5. that goes without saying safety first, Safety glasses on.

Nearsighted, downrange out of focus without glasses viewed thru scope, or not, so full time glasses, it is. WM

I can read fine without my glasses but for anything at a distance I need them. They have safety lenses so they are also my safety glasses. I wear them shooting and pretty much all the time I am not sleeping. My glasses have progressive lenses. I also shoot two eyes open. When I'm shooting from the bench I am trying to keep an eye on the wind flags as I get ready to shoot. I think that would be hard if the flags were out of focus.

I have progressive lenses in my glasses
Essentially tri-focals without any lines.
They also correct an astigmatism
I shoot with the glasses on
Currently I'm a left eye closed shooter.
But have begun practicing with both eyes open
If I tried that without glasses everything on the left would be a blur

FWIW
I do not wear contact lenses.
EVER!

Full time and bifocal wearer. That includes while shooting. No problems.

Progressive lenses and as said head position fairly critical. Both eyes open when shooting also.
Couldnt shoot w/o glasses if I wanted to.

Progressive lenses as mentioned earlier. I shoot with glasses and head position is critical for scope clarity. Need them for loading .177's and such.

I have a set of Decot glasses that I use for trap. Tried them with air rifles. The lenses are only good for distance. Next set of lenses will have to have bifocals.

I don't wear glasses except for reading, driving or watching TV.

I started down the path of learning how to shoot with glasses on but struggled with it.

During that process I found several people who had custom bifocals made with a taller distance vision section to make shooting with glasses on more comfortable.

For what it is worth. I don't remember what sources they used for the custom lenses.

I talked to my eye doctor about separate near & distance glasses so I'd have one pair dedicated for shooting. He thought it was a good idea but for some reason I struggled with it. To be fair, I have vision issues that are atypical.

Every piece of glass in front of your eye degrades what you see.
I know many love and believe in the nanny state. Who are you to tell me to wear glasses?
So what's s bigger threat to your life? Shooting without glasses or driving to and from the range?
Don't agree, that's fine , we don't always need too.
Think I am wrong. Take your best scope, March NF, whatever. Go look at a bullet hole, say a .243 hole on white paper at 500 yards. Now look at it with out your glasses with the scope refocused. See what I mean.

Now that’s an interesting thread, I have always struggled with whether to shoot with my glasses on or off as I use separate glasses for reading and distance so have never been sure as to what to use.
Think a trip to opticians is due as these progressive lens glasses that have been mentioned look like they could solve my issue.

They are certainly worth a try IMO.
Think of them as tri-focals without a hard line between the steps
Top portion is distance vision (driving etc)
Middle is just that (glancing down at the speedometer for example)
And close for reading
They do take some getting used to at first ,as with most changes.
But after a while, if like me, you won't even notice it anymore

I was nearsighted before having cataract surgery, wearing either bifocals or progressive lenses. I needed the distance lenses for shooting iron sights, a scope I could go either way. After the surgery I am now more farsighted, and can shoot either scopes or irons with or without my glasses which are now progressives, upper is basically plain glass and bottom readers, I went ahead and got those glasses as I have been wearing them for a bit over 65 years and they are just second nature, plus more convenient not to be taking glasses on and off.

Been wearing glasses for 66 years, since I was 3. Almost blind without my bifocals. But when I am home I rarely wear my glasses (I read and don't watch TV). Quite nearsighted so things within a foot or so (like my phone) are just fine.

So no glasses when shooting. Scope is my glasses.

I can shoot with or without glasses. Problem is, I need to see other stuff while I’m shooting/hunting. Can’t always be looking through the scope. So I wear them all the time. Years ago I got away from the cool trendy small frame glasses. I get the biggest frame I can now without looking like I’m auditioning for a Warby Parker commercial. Larger lens equals less critical head placement in awkward hunting situations.

Near sighted, close to needing bifocals, just look under the lenses. Glasses all the time for the OP's questions. Tried contacts decades ago ... didn't care for the cleaning routines and any dust or debris drove me nuts.
