Extreme Wind Conditions - Pellets vs Slugs

In a previous review, I documented how well my RW HP really likes the FX Hybrids, compared to all other slugs I have tested (have not tried the new Daystate Howler slugs yet).

It is extremely windy today, and the first day the temps have approached the 40s in several days. Stepped out and shot two ten shots each with my RD and my RAW, one from each rifle with its favorite pellet and one with the slugs. The wind really tore up the normally +/- 1" groups at the 89 yard distance. The FX slugs performed incredibly considering the conditions, while the NSA slugs did somewhat better in than the King Heavy pellets in the same conditions.

I thought some of you might find this to be of some interest.

I agree with Bio, t’s very hard to tell with gusting winds to make a legitimate comparison. Obviously the wind wasn’t 30 mph when shot, either sideways or front/back, since even with the Hybrids or the 26.8 NSAs the drift would be many many times greater than a couple of inches, probably closer to a foot with the slugs and even more with the pellets. Waiting for a lull in the wind to shoot like you did is smart, but hard to compare apples to apples. It does show less drift with the slugs compared to the pellets and that’s great. Both slugs tested have a similar BC so one was shot in more wind than the other.
