Exploding Starling

This pest starling had ripped off a cedar shake where I had blown in insulation placed, and decided to make himself a home. Well today, I was serving up an eviction notice! I was camped not 10 yards waiting for the critter to enter/leave while I was timing my shot, but the scoundrel peeped me out and made his entrance/exit with all expedience. I was able to follow it land around 35 yards away in a tree, and that's when I decided to take the opportunity for a dispatch. Scope duties done with a ATN Thor4 384 1.3-5x operating in the extended magnification range, which is why the visual quality is so low for small targets at such distances, but that didn't affect the audio and you can clearly hear the slug impact is louder than the airgun discharge! The NSA .256cal 26gr slug literally blew the starlings head off, and threw bits and pieces of it's body in a fine pink mist. Even with the low resolution of the thermal, the carnage is clearly visible!💥

The AEA HP Semi-Auto Bullpup in .25 cal is proving to be a really fun gun! I can't believe I have 10 rounds on tap as fast as I can pull the trigger, in such a small and powerful package!

This level of destruction is incredible! I am trying to comprehend why so much damage occurs to birds, but doesn't happen with squirrels? Is it just because the mass difference between the two? I've shot small to medium sized squirrels with my .357 Benjamin Bulldog, and didn't get nearly the damage these birds are getting...
