Hi Folks. Has anyone had any experience with the Umarex CO2 adapter allowing one to use smaller CO2 cylinders rather than the big 88 bottles?

never bought one but if you have a 88gr gun it would be a better way to go
you can remove with losing any or much co2 because they are spring loaded and reseal
I did make up some single 12gr units for my Hammerli 850's that work well for short shooting sessions and of just testing
those 88gramer get pricey when the leak out or dump on you
there are 2 different ones, one by Umarex and one by Walther and I was told the Umarex one loses less co2 when removing, fact or fiction a do not know
one other thing, you need to shop around for the best price because some seller are very proud of them
also you can find them at Krale airguns in the Netherlands and if you bought a few the shipping cost would be worth it

Thanks. I was unaware that the 88s are self sealing. Just have a PCP gun and some BB pistols taking 12s.

Are you talking about the Walther branded one, it has kinda flat sides....there is also a round one I got for my Hammerli years ago.....I think it might be branded as hammerli but not sure.
Anyhoo I have them both.....both have worked just fine for me. The walther branded square sided one is a little shorter....it will fit in things like the walther lever rifle just fine....the round one is too long.....both will work in my 850.
I can also tell you that I have lost 88g cartridges. Not ever seen one that will self seal....have had several turn into a frozen block of metal before, but never seal.
I do not care for the 88 gram....I am not going to shoot that long. You don't get any more pressure, there is just more in there before it starts to fall off....and I think the extra mass helps keep the temps up....they don't seem to get cold as fast. On a gun like the 850 just take off the guard if it gets cold and let the warm air get to it....the lever gun no luck.

Thanks Just looking for something for when the rats get in the orange tree etc. Hate rats. For all the coyotes around here, there seem to be plenty of rats.

I never had much issue with rats....but mice.....it was all out war.
I tried the 850 on mice in the barn but found it to have a little too much oomph and I started getting through and through shots and damaging equipment.......windshields on tractors are expensive.
In my experience with CO2 pesting I will NEVER EVER touch an 88 cartridge again. There is not that much shooting.....again I am in a barn and if I get a dozen it was a good night. Outside you might get more.....I keep bringing up the 850 as I think it is the best "pesting" CO2 gun out there.....easy to scope accurate and pretty hard hitting for a gas gun.
I will tell you that the Walther branded adapter WILL seal if you take it out of the gun....you get a little pssst then it is good....not hard at all.
IMHO based on me actually using both adapters for the same kind of job you are talking about I would stay far away from 88 cartridges, they just don't bring enough to the table.

OOPS....forgot to add....for in the barn.....if you have that issue....I got a 22 MSP....my choice was a crosman 2200. Great gun shot a 22 pellet and I can very easy adjust the power....at first I thought pumping would be too loud and they would all run and hide.....they come right back.....hungry little buggers they are. Can't tell you how much stuff they ruined, feed bags ruined....even in all kinds of different containers.....even metal.....they eat through metal to get the stuff inside....just insane.
If having to work in or around buildings where there is no real backstop I suggest a 22 MSP....you can get good clean kills and still keep the power down.
