Expensive....

Hi Shooters,

I just took delivery of a new FX Wildcat in .25 (700mm Barrel). I already know this will be a fun but expensive journey 😂, but as my youngest son is not fun of fishing it will be well worth it if he'll gets hooked on shooting / hunting. I went for the Wildcat over the Dreampup bottle for two reasons, I wanted the forward cooking and I wanted to hand pump the gun....The hand pumping idea went out of the window today and I picked up a 7 litre carbon bottle instead, I wonder what is next 😄, ooh the Donny FL Sumo was next....

I really really like the Wildcat so far, only thing I miss on it is a regulator gauge, but should I one day wake up with high confidence levels, then I will cut into the synthetic stock and install a Wkia or Huma gauge. I have seen pictures of the gauge install on this forum and will eventually ask you guys for advise when the day comes.

I have one question though; is the hole on the air cylinder the AMP regulator hole? A 2mm allen key fits there, but I will be sorry to mess things up before even getting started, so I aint touching it for now. . I cleaned the barrel yesterday, pulled out the liner, liner came out with only 1 o-ring on it. Having seen Steve's vlog I knew there were supposed to be three o-rings. No problem, just shaking them out, and the 700mm comes with four o-rings.

Going to sight in tomorrow if the weather permits, happy expensive days.

Christian

Yes this is an expensive hobby. So is fishing when you buy a boat and move to a private lake community. RC car racing was another expensive hobby of ours. Then all the 35mm cameras i bought for that hobby. Not to mention all the motorcycles, or the scuba diving trips.

When you have 3 very didferent daughters and you're trying to build a lasting relationship with them, money is not a concern.

If this gets you and your son closer, spend away!

I noticed you're a fairly new member to AGN. Welcome aboard. There is a lot of info here.

If the plan is to have fun shooting with your son, don't overthink it. You have a great gun. A Wildcat is made to shoot, just as it is.

You have a tank, but unlimited air is a slice of heaven. Maybe a compressor would be a good investment.

He probably doesn't need a regulator gauge. Give him a tin of JSB's and some time to shoot the heck out of it, some good targets, and maybe some outdoor space to do it, and I'll bet you see a happy kid.

Hi Guys,

Yes, i am fairly new to this forum and airguns in general. I am terrible shot but that it's about to change hopefully 👀

As more of you already mentioned, it's money well spent, taking in consideration that the kid is already begging me to go shooting in the week-end, and the gun is still not sighted in.

Gauge is purely for control / info and looks, I just think it's nice to know what is going on...., and |I see all you pros discussing reg pressure in great detail, must mean something right 😄

Has anybody a take on the hole?

Christian

Thanks a lot guys for helping out. I thought it was the amp reg. adjuster, but better safe than sorry.

BioH, I'm not planning to play with the reg any time soon, unless I run into trouble with pellet speed. I will set the Wildcat up for the Hades 26.5gr and JSB 25.4gr. I also have two tins of JSB heavy in 33gr, but i'm not planning to shoot them in the coming weeks. I'm going to do the sighting in and hopefully some fun shooting today, I will post results later today.

Expensive? It depends how you look at it.

- To me, a $$$ airgun that is used often and provide pleasure and amusement... is less expensive than a something else at $ that isn't been used much.

And if you think this is expensive now, wait until your son/wife gets into the sport and ask you to provide them with stuff to shoots... It will get $$$ real fast, but it will be well worth it ;-)

I need to change the title to NO REGRETS 😃

After sighting the Wildcat in, I started shooting some groups at 30 yards, all went well and I refilled the gun to 220 bar, set up the target at 55 yards. I was not expecting much and I am not a good shooter (yet), but I was pleasantly surprised with myself. Below are the groups, there are four 8 shot groups. I wanted to see how many shots the gun would give on a nearly full fill, so the top right group is a 32 shot group. I got 64 shots on a 220bar fill..... I shot down to 120bar! I am very pleased with that. There is a pic my shot string (first 16 shots), I don't know how to calculate standard deviation but I am extremely pleased with the max spread.
