I share a similar story with L.Leon, I've got quite a few PB pistols and rifles, and they sit in the safe. I get as much pleasure, without the noise and recoil, from the air rifles I own -- Brocock Commander and Concept Lite. My children also enjoy them and I'm not harassing the neighbors with a loud PB report.
I did 25 rounds out of a Mossberg 930 the other day and honestly, I found it less enjoyable than shooting the air rifles. I think the LDCs have spoiled me and the general plinking at 50 - 100 yards is quite pleasing.
2much, I don't think they actually know what they are missing. Not only is the air stuff equally enjoyable but it's also significantly less expensive once you get past the initial investment.
I had been on a quest for a 22 bolt action short, mainly for plinking, and for reduced recoil. My air rifles in .22 not only fit that bill but they do it without the necessity of the cost of PB ammo, ammo shortages, cleaning, noise, etc. I shoot CPDs and I can score 6,000 rounds for ~$70 USD. Can't even come close to that in .22 short for PBs.
