Don’t want to sound ungrateful for your posts, but what does this tell the average shooter? Wouldn’t it be more beneficial to show expansion at a useable speed, say between 875 and 950 FPS? Thanks for the photos though.

My theoben rapid is set to slugs 36 grain, so out of curiosity I did this test on light pellets.

Theoben Rapid MKII. Distance maybe half meter

I would do the same test with the clay block along with a target set at fifty yards. First to see the expansion at a hunting distance and next to see if you had the accuracy with pellets going that fast. Bill

My rapid is set to 75+ ftlbs on 34-36 grain slugs, and shoots accurately from them.
The test of light pellets was just by the way, and I do not intend to shoot them with this energy.
Only JSB Monster Redesigned works decently at 100m, but that it is supersonic and already loud.










The top 4 groups on 101 meters of my 35.4 grain slugs.

And 2 groups on 102 meters from my 2.1 grams HP slugs.

I use mold from MP Molds, version 1.
In my opinion this shape of the slugs is better than the version 2, my BSA barrel in Theoben Rapid loves these slugs.

For the production of lighter HP Slugs I use steel balls in 4 diameters, 3.5mm 3.175mm 3.0mm and 2.275mm.

what is the lenght of your BSA barrel ?

is it significantly better than the original LW barrel, 

why did you make the switch ?

I am asking because I have two of BSA (.22 and .25)

barrel blanks from John Knibbs UK

I changed the barrel because I converted sub 12 ftlbs rapid to 75 ftlbs. I bought my barrel from Lepys Custom Shop 10 years ago, length 600mm, but most importantly it has a good twist rate for slugs. Slugs have been stabilizing from around 260m / s.
