I was able to get the Umarex/Walther/PPK/s GBB delivered to the USA!
I kept looking at the many videos on YouTube of this wonderful replica pistol and found myself DROOLING on my laptop! After trying to get answers from Umarex, both USA and Germany on future availability that led nowhere, I decided to take another tack.
I asked Google: "Can you order and have delivered to the USA the new PPK/S GBB by VFC for Umarex" They came back with "YES via Swit Airsoft or RedWolf Airsoft" the latter is from Hong Kong, the former from Taiwan. Pricing not cheap but worth it at $180, and then go with UPS shipping which gets it to you quicker, and customs arrangements are covered.
REVIEW: This pistol was worth it, and as a very experienced airpistol hobbyist, (I own 15) it is now defiintely my best, just edging out the Umarex Smith and Wesson model 29 bb series revolvers. I am very familiar with the real PPK/S and this replica is virtually identical in all dimensions except the beaver tail is smaller, like a 1960's Bond type. It has double action, great feel and balance, the green gas mag is in scale to a .380 mag, and the working safety is nice, although it does not go all the way to the right when putting it on safe, not quite covering the red dot FIRE icon. It does do its job well though. This is my first Green Gas pistol so bear with me on this aspect of the gun. It has plenty of POP after just filling it with gas but I notice the gas seems to bleed off over night. I got a 3 way GG tool from the big A and tightned up the valves on the clip but it still seeems to bleed off. BUT it's easy to gas it up again- like you would gas up a lighter with butane. I feel less worry about wasting a CO2 cartridge for obvious reasons. Power is not great but it's plenty for plinking, which is the mainstay of airsoft. The field stripping is complete and fun! It has an adjustment for raising or lowering the barrel which I have not changed as it has been accurate so far.
My only beef is that there is not a notch stay to hold back the feed spring of the mag as you load the 6mm airsoft bbs. They do give you a nice little peice to put into the clip so that you can continue to shoot without bbs without it jamming the slide in the way back position- both of which work well. At first I thought the gun was powder coated but now I think after about a month wear marks are in the very good paint job.
There is no federally mandated language or symbols on the pistol, only authentic Walther logos and serial numbers- perhaps a reason they can't be readily imported yet??
Absolutely love this gun! Highly recommended.
Yours,
Bluemill
