Exchangeable Turret Sleeves

When you have one scope mounted on a favorite gun but yet shoot different weight pellets or slugs or even multiple calibers from day to day it's a pain in the butt changing out yardage tapes or stickers on the turret. When I had a Sightron SIII on my Impact I solved that by ordering a couple of sets of turret adjusting knobs for like $29 a set and then had specific tape on these for different projectiles, a quick swap out and re-zero and I was good to go. When I got a new Athlon Midas Tac for the my Impact purchasing spare turret knobs wasn't an option from Athlon. The wheels started turning and I came up with the idea making some removable sleeve out of PVC. I used 1" and chucked up short pieces in my lathe and reamed out the ID to the right size, just tight enough that it'll slide on but tight enough that it wont turn accidentally. I then marked the yardages and even the tune specifics on each sleeve. For added protection from the elements and finger oils I then put a wrap of Scotch tape over the markings. Seems to working very well. I currently have sleeves made up for JSB Heavies, JSB 30cal and NSA 29.0's. Might be something ya'll could find useful.

Nation,

I'll have to get more detailed pictures of mine.....but this is what I did to my Sightron.

I took a 1" PVC flat endcap, drilled and tapped a 1/4"×20 hole in the very end, installed a threaded wing nut screw. I then machined a ring to go onto the turret itself, tight fit. Removed the turret, slipped the ring on, and slid it to the top of the turret, jamming it on the taper, that is on the top of the turret. Replaced turret on scope. I now put the endcap with the wing screw on it, onto the turret. I marked 4 points around the PVC, just under where the ring stopped on the turret underneath. I then drilled and tapped these for a 10-32 thread. Installed 4 10-32 screws just long enough to grab the ring around the turret underneath, but not long enough to actually touch the turret. I then could then tighten the wing nut, and the 10-32 screws would bear against the ring, holding it in place. I also put a coin on top of the turret, so that my wing nut adjuster would not damage the top of the turret.

I now can get all of my elevation marks. If it shifted a couple of clicks, I simply loosen the wingnut, rezero it, and tighten it back up. Keeps all distances in the same relationship as when you started. I'll fry to get some pictures, if I have time, I'll make a short video, that should be self explanatory on its operation, if my description is a little foggy.

I make mine in Illustrator and print then on plain paper. After printing I cover them with clear tape, cut them out and tape each end onto the scope wheel. They are easy to change when necessary.

I used to make a few on Chairgun for one gun one pellet application but what I ran into was one gun, one scope, three calibers and so far six different projectiles so I needed something quick and easy, a two minute swap out then of course a re-sight to the new zero.
