Empty chamber indicator

I am fortunate in having access to an up to 50 yd indoor that accepts airgun owners. I shoot primarily a Vet .25 ,a Royale in .22 and a Crossman 1701P. I have been using a very small zip tie as an empty chamber indicator but worry I could damage the breach o-ring or possibly the transfer port due to the hard irregular nature of the zip tie. Wondering what everyone else is using. Range masters are very versatile.

On my ghost I pull the charging handle back and slip it into the area of the pivot point so the charging handle can’t close all the way….I don’t put anything in my barrel.

I use string trimmer line at the range.

When a got some mags from carm I purchase their empty chamber flag for my ghost and notos.

But the string trimmer line is much cheaper to get

It depends on your range I guess. Mine is pretty informal and other shooters are fine when in I tell them it's an air rifle, I have no empty chamber indicator, but it's safe. Larger clubs or public ranges are more stringent, and some range officers enjoy their power position and can be confrontational. But if I had to use one, I'd probably use a double length of fly line, or something like the string trimmer line recommended above.
