Elevation too high for 25m zero

If I have to shim (which I don't like to do) I will usually use a soda can and cut out a rectangle that will fit the bottom of the mount saddle on the rings. Two pieces, at the most 3 should do the trick. Don't really like to do that though, scope tubes can be fragile if torqued down on a surface not very close to being absolutely level. In the end, I will usually go with the FX or SM adjustable mounts.

One place where it didn't matter at all was when I shimmed my Impact (1st Gen), put the shims under the raised pic rail. No stress on the scope whatsoever.

I don't shim scopes either but many seem to have it work well. I'd suggest being careful with torque on the top strap screws if shimming for the exact reasons mentioned. I use SM rings on several rifles and they work great. No experience with FX but many like them as well.

Thanks a lot guys. I’m gonna get the FX no limit mounts. I’m new to serious airgunning and I’m loving the technical aspect of it.

I don’t know how I would have sorted out all my issues without all of you on this forum :)

bit by bit it’s coming together. Can’t wait to stretch it out. Where I am we can’t have firearms so this is all I have. No regrets either - definitely more backyard and hearing friendly.
