Elements Nexus or Night Force NX8 Scope for long range

Can’t speak to the Nexus, but had the NX8 and it is a great scope. I too have owned several ETRs and other Athlons (including the Cronus). I understand what you mean about your eyes getting tired with certain scopes. My ATACR and NX8 were two of the best scopes I’ve owned for adjusting to my eyesight and to what optical performance I like to see in a scope. The ATACR was better, but not by a grand margin. The small size and high mag are exceptionally useful on a range of rifles also.

I recently bought the NightForce NX8 4-32. It was between the NF and the Nexus. A small portion of the decision was the Nexus is a newly released first generation model without a lot of common user base feedback yet. I expected rave reviews from all the usual You-Tubers, but I wanted no-name real user feedback, and it was lacking. I’ve been bitten many times by first release products.

While the NX8 is pretty new as well, I was able to find a little more review material. There was also the fact that NF is a much more established company, and has a track record of resolving problems with high customer satisfaction.

Now, with that said, let me say that I’ve met Matt and I honestly believe everything he says about the Element scope line. He is one of the most sincere young men I’ve ever met, and I value his opinion on products, even realizing he has an understandable bias in some situations.

In the end, I wanted both high end glass AND higher magnification. Since I was already shooting a decent 6-24x Hawke, the Nexus meant giving up magnification to get better glass, while the NF gave me better glass and more magnification. If the Nexus went to 32x, I may have taken a leap of faith on the newer product.

i have never looked through a Nexus, but the NF NX8 focuses with a crispness and snaps into focus like the best of my high end professional camera lenses. It can be bought new for about $400 more than the Nexus, and for my situation, it was worth it.

I would to thank you guys for the opinions and info, Before I got the Athlon I was leaning to the NF but second guessed myself not the first and not the last time I will do that Iam sure. I to was not sure about the Elements Scope as was said no track record with the company and the product. I was sure it was thought out but have been thru the this kind of thing before and made a bad choice.

I do have an athalon etr uhd and I do shoot daily most of the time for two-four hours. I am 62 and with my failing eyes the etr is very comfortable spending long periods of time, but every one has different eyes. I cannot answer your original question only because I have not spent time with them. So far the athalon etr uhd has fulfilled my needs and expectations comparing to scopes from 300-600 bucks more like in the $2000.00 range. That’s why I am interested in what you going to do with your etr. I hope that helps

If you can't make your mind choose the one with the recticle you like best.

This. If you're spending that much on an optic, reticle choice should be one of the main things you consider.

As far as feedback for Element, Joe and DLO have done some excellent reviews of the Nexus and I don't believe either is associated with the company. New companies have been putting out some exceptional scopes recently (just look at ZCO). Of course, be wary of potential issues, especially if the people behind the company have a bad rep. Regardless, both the NX8 and Nexus are good scopes. Go with the scope that fits your needs and try it out in person if you can before buying.

I had an NX8 1-8 LPVO but sold it to fund another NX8 but in the 2.5-20x50 F1 MIL-C reticle version. I like how compact it is at only 12 inches. I received it about month ago and after some time with it, I now plan to pick up another NX8 in the 4-32x50 F1 version. I was also thinking about the Nexus but it just hasn't been around as long. I just feel going with NF is a safer bet. If it doesn't work out, it would be easier to sell it because of Nightforce's reputation. It's definitely not a "paperweight".
