My electrician was doing work for me today, this is a wire he replaced for a earlier customer of squirrel that got electrocuted. Don’t you feel sorry for the squirrel.

my friend in Pennsylvania, i was talking to him over messenger texting back and forth and he suddenlly tells me, if i go offline its because there is a Squirrel chewing on the Transformer on the Pole he lives in a realy rural area, he was offline for couple days,came back and sent me a pic of the Squirrel getting Lit Up when he chewed to the wire

The local ground squirrels just did that (wiring and the windshield wiper fluid tube) to the neighbor's car. Some newer cars use a soy-based wire insulation, which is extra-attractive to rodents. Not sure about home wiring insulation, but it wouldn't surprise me.

It’s ironic I was just talking to my buddy two days ago. He’s telling me squirrels were known to eat paper insulated wire, but not the plastic coated of today. I’ll send him these pictures. Crow

From time to time I have a problem with field mice in my crawl space. They sometimes start eating the armorflex insulation on my hot water pipes. I suspect it may have been due to scarcity of food. It seems to me that an animal will eat just about anything that will fill its belly. Of course it'll eventually die of malnutrition if that's the case.

A lot of my co-workers HATE that I am at war with squirrels. I show pix of my kills to a select few who don't get offended, but word gets out the the "squirrel killer" is at it again. Then a strange thing happened. A couple people contacted me about a problem squirrel here and there. Seems that some of the local squirrels have developed a craving for auto wire harnesses. $1200 worth of damage to one car and $800 to another! Now my services are are not so frowned upon! One lady asked me about her bird feeders. Squirrels have eaten 500 Lbs of seed and 4 feeders. I went over and she had no less than a dozen squirrels destroying her property. 30 mins and 2 magazines and all the squirrels were full of lead!

PS: I'm sure the joy of killing was not a factor in your sacrifice of time and lead to protect humans from those rodents' attacks.

I work for the local telephone company. I am always repairing aerial cable that the squirrels chew. I love it when they get fried chewing the wrong wire!

yup, they are really cute till they destroy YOUR very own personal properties! However 12 tree rats in 30 minutes, must been fun as hell!

One morning I was making breakfast when there was a loud boom, like a shotgun going off. It was a squirrel that had chewed wires on a transformer, I walked over and found him on the ground underneath the transformer...still smoking lol! Last year I opened the hood of my truck and found a nest made out of the insulation around the engine, it was touching the manifold and definitely would have started a fire if I didn’t see it. It was chipmunks that did it. They are cute and fun to watch but they do a lot of damage and they never get a pass here.

lol 12 in 30 minutes has to be some kindof record .. sounds about how my place used to be though 'before' the marauder, they killed my garage door wires and wer into everything .. i would get about 6 at a time .. when theyre thick like that theres probably over 100 actually around, i lost count but im sure ive eliminated at least 80 in the past couple of years .. i try not to kill them all im good if i only see one or two a day and theyre not into anything ..
