No. Attach everything. Open the bleed on the pump, under where the hose comes out. Start the pump and close the bleed. Don't turn the pump off until you get your desired pressure in whatever you are filling. Stop and bleed the same as with a hand pump. The important part is to not stop and restart until you're finished otherwise the motor will be fighting against the built up pressure in the line from a standing start. Once the motor is up and running with all the momentum of the spinning mass, you can start to put load on it. That's about as plain as I can explain it. Like I said, It's not rocket science.
