EDIT: MTC Viper Pro question...

I already had the new MTC Viper Pro Scope in my shopping basket, when I decided to do some more research first, before pulling the trigger. I understand that MTC builds quality scopes, so I am not worried about that. I simply wonder how "big of a deal", or "new innovation" their new Turret system is? I have a cheap scope on my GAMO Whisper Fusion Pro that needs to be replaced and I like the whole idea about the "self printable" turret tape, but I have ZERO idea how practical and useful this really will be???

Thanks,

Kmd

True.

I actually just bought a scope from Walmart for $69 bucks, because I thought the one on my GAMO Whisper Fusion Pro was broken. It turns out that I did not mount the scope correctly and it was "sliding" around. Anyhow. The $69 dollar scope turned out to be working absolutely fine! This makes me wonder as well, how much "better" a $675 scope will be, and if I actually end up utilizing the features it brings...?! I doubt it.

Thanks for the input,

Kmd

On a Gamo...you would probably not "utilize" those features of the Pro scope but you would see the difference in glass than whatever $70 optic you have. I would look at Athlon Talos brand/models. I am sure they are are a step-up and within reason; PCP rifles would have the range that would justify a highend scope. If that makes sense.

Expensive scopes are such due to features, repeatability, reliability, ease of use, quality of glass and...brand. A "cheap" Hawke like I first owned did the job, sure. If I minded the haze and blur. But then I didnt know it was hazy until I saw what a $400 scope was. And I didn't know the ED glass of another scope was better than that $400 scope. You'll see what I mean too once you get a chance to use something nice, whatever it may be.

Probably not. But you know how that is, you still "want" something nice, ha ha.

I never looked though any other scope, other than the ones I have right now. I am sure I will be "wowed" by the clarity compared to mine. BUT, the biggest feature I am looking forward to, on the MTC Viper Pro, is the ability to change the turrets to preset distances, without the use of Mil-Dots and what not. I totally understand that up until now, people were using Scopes that do not offer the same feature as the MTC, and they were obviously hitting targets. I just like the idea of having the ability to print your of range "tape" for the turret...
