Edguns trigger hand finger placement question

Does anyone know what the deep undercut for the middle finger is for on the Edguns ? Some sort of better grip, or hold ?

For me and my Lelya 2 it was uncomfortable. During my stock modification, I "fixed" it, I filled the area, for a more normal and comfortable finger placement.

Middle finger grip so no accidental droppage if it slips down without it and adds to stability with a single finger being one with the stock since the grip is small and rest of the fingers hangs lower than the bottom of that grip. Smallish hands no need for that middle finger cutout.

These somewhat large hands like the indentation for stability and repeatability. Moving through the forest in hand yields more confidence.
