Why all the big secret about the Edgun Matador's insurmountable obstruction to accuracy. I have been sooooooooooooo darn POed with this gun for over a year now with it's inability to group
Then I was surfing AGN as saw where someone said that if you torqued the barrel tension lug to between 10 to 12 lbs that a gun that previously would not group well probably would. Personally I thought someone was peeing down my back and telling me it was raining … but hey … I'm game … almost anything is worth a try at least once. Sooooo I had never touched the tension lug on the barrel because I didn't have a 12mm hex head ... and when I put a hex wrench on it I was surprised that it was as tight as it was. I loosened it and guess what, the air tube slid it just like it had belonged there all along. Prior to that it had been a pain trying to get the air tube in or out because even with the gun cocked, safety applied, moderator and moderator tube taken off, it was such a tight fit. Apparently the tension lug was so tight that it was pulling the part of the shroud that covers the tension lug toward the air tube and not allowing you to just drop it in and pull up into the sled. Now she just rides the shroud down to the sled, pull up and it pops in.
But the biggest thing was what happened to the accuracy … Boom, Boom and Kaboom … she is popping half inch groups at 60 yards like nobody's business. I've had this gun for over a year and can't tell ya how many times I had almost thrown it in the garbage … and look at her now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And nobody had said a word about it until last week when somebody mentioned the barrel tension lug. In desperation to try just about anything I even put on a new Huma regulator and even that would not overcome the stress that the tension lug had the gun under to improve the accuracy. I'm marking the barrel and the spot on the tension lug where they mate just in case I need to do something to the gun in the future where I would need to take the barrel out so I can mate it back together again.
Well, that's my story, and I'm sticking to it!
