Edgun r5m long shroud

Hi

i was wondering how many of you have the shroud touching the airtube, when torqued beyond 5nm ? And does it affect your accuracy?

Not sure what you mean by “torqued beyond 5mm” ? Do you have a picture? The air tube and shroud should not be touching.

What i mean by that is i have heard The recomended torque on the barrelnut is between 10-15 fot pounds(13,5-20 Newton meters) and since the day i got the rifle from Spain… the shroud have been touching the airtube.

The marks on the shroud too. So i tried to torque the barrelnut to see if i could fix the problem, but Even 3,5-4ft.lbs and the shroud is touching.

This got me also fnising issue nr2. To remove the airtube i have to bleed the tube from the front and screw it out, because it is not enough clearance just too loosen the wedge holding the tube. But thats a topic for another discussion!

Put a piece of cloth between the shroud and tube. Then tighten the barrel tension nut. Then pull the cloth out. It will rest with gap and not touch again.

unless you have endcap not square this is not a problem or issue there is 2 like 6mm holes in end cap you and put in 2 drill bits and make sure it is level to the action using bubble levels , as for wedge design for jack screw , it works correctly <, I have owned and shot all of edgun models ,

Hi i have tried to use plastic shims between shroud and airtube while tightening the nut. 1.5mm shims. And using a level on the rail and two 5.5mm drillbits to level the shroud nut/cap. When i pull the shims out the barrel hits the airtube again. Never used more than 7ft.lbs on the nut. But i will try the cloth idea thanks David! 


as for the wedge Lou, if i follow the process to remove the airtube acording to manual and Eds YouTube videos the airtube is impossble to remove without. Unscrew it first. Even with the wedge completly loose the little lip on the airtube will not clear. Maybe the gun has been bent during shipping i dont know, bit it seems straight

The first R5M I bought from Edgun West was like that. The shroud and air tube where pressed together, unsure why. The gun went back to Edgun West the next day and I got a Lelya 2.0 instead because he was out of R5Ms. Last year I bought another R5M from Edgun West and that gun was straight.

That sucks to hear. Hopefully i can sort this issue out. The problem that the airtube only can be removed if i bleed it from the front snd then screw the reservoir out is what annoys me the most. Bought this gun because it «should» be easy to work on..
