Edgun Matador Huma Magnum 25 caliber

I’ve been watching the YouTube presentations from Edgunwest and Airborne Arms the links are below, after watching these videos and doing some other research I’ve decided to get this new Edgun improved model. Shooting 100 yards plus seems to be a part of this sport I really enjoy so I ordered the new toy from EDgun’s west who I’ve done business with in the past with good results, service and someone to answer my dumb questions. I also ordered the Donny FL Shogun Moderator as when I’m to lazy to go to the range I do shooting in places were less noise is required.
I’ll probably have it in a week or so. For a scope I have a Vortex VIPER PST 6-24X50 FFP RIFLESCOPE in my gun safe I’ll be using the FX no limit mounts as they are the best if your going to do Long Shooting.

I realy like the rifle improvments that Airborne Arms come up with he knows how to get the most out of his guns and seems to willing to share what he discovers and develops too bad he’s on the other side of the world in New Zeeland, I’d love to go shooting down there as the scenery looks fantastic.
Manufacturers seem to make a product for what they perceive to be what a customer wants then they are slow to come up with new ideas . I think it’s great when a couple of independent thinkers get together to make a older proven PCP the original bull pup better.

I now have the power plenum installed in my .25 STD R3M. I still have a bunch of 25.4s so I backed the HST way off with the reg at 130Bar. Too soon to say much, but I can tell you the second shot before backing off the HST was SS. After backing off the HST I am back to 900 and rezeroed. Rebuilt the whole gun while installing the kit and now I am anxious to get the 34s in a day or two. I have not shot groups in a while now, but it still tags the spinners at 108 yards in my back yard😊 minute of acorn at 75 😂 The sound is different on the shot. It is more of a pfffffffff sound than a soft bark. I am going to check shots/fill today. My POS chrony is so unreliable at picking up the pellets I will not be posting a full charted string... just summary data.

So far I am very encouraged. After cleaning and polishing/lubing the entire trigger I was questioning if the Edgun could get any better. The sound of the shot is more pleasing on current tune... so yes it can. The degree of flexibility in tuning is hugely different with the kit. More later.

Brian,
I see from a previous thread that you have the EDgun 33.95 MKII pellets. Will you be shooting them in your testing and/or the JSB MKII's? How did the EDgun pellets shoot for you previously? I have some on order to compare with the JSB's.
Any update on the arrival of your new "Magnum" .25 Long?

Joe,
Can't find the JSB MKII's in stock anywhere, hopefully you got yours on order before the outage? Any ETA?
I have some of the EDgun MKII's on order.

I have the JSB 33.95 exact king heavy diablo and the mill also in 25 caliber with the gun I ordered 4cans of the edgun version of them I will do a comparison and report back any differences I find . When I did that with the 25.39 exact king. I found the EDgun’s to be cleaner and less of a spread in the weights the JSB went from 24.2 to 25.9 the edgun pellets which look the same were 24.9 to 25.7 when I shot the the ones that weighed the same shot the same I couldn’t tell the difference in the 33.95 I will take more time and count each weight quantity to see which has a better yield in the pellet I like the best. I’m not sure if the edgun ones are like the regulars or the mkll I’ll ask Brian.
i spoke to Brian at Edgunwest the other day and he hopes to be shipping my order on Monday hopefully I’ll have it for next weekend

i just checked the Edgunwest site the 34.95 are MKll so when I do a comparison I’ll do all 3

Brian's website lists the 34's as MK II's and they look like the MK II design. Look/hover over the pic with the case pricing, not the other which shows a tin of .177's lol.

Should be an interesting comparison. I know you have a Crown also, should be fun to compare accuracy between the two guns and pellets. I think the Crown may be at a disadvantage as it was designed around the 25.39 pellet. Probably needs a faster twist rate and more speed to shoot the MK II's at optimal performance. Hopefully FX will come up with a new X barrel soon to take advantage of the better BC of the MK II.

I’ve haven't tried the 34.95 on the Crown. It’s shooting the lights out with 25.39 up to 100, my range goes to 200 after I get the Matador clicking at 100 I’ll take it to 200. I don’t think I’m going use anything lighter in the Russian. I may see how the Crown deals with the heavier pellets but I’m in no rush. If all it will take is a $99 barrel insert I may try in in March because the way FX has their production setup everthing is 3 months behind. Now that the colder weather in coming into the North east I only like to go to the range when it’s quiet then I can shoot from my SUV the indoor range is only 25 yards I’ll only go there if it’s deep snow.

Make no mistake shooting sub MOA at 200y is not as simple as dropping in this kit and slinging lead to yonder..
This kit has made this accuracy possible but you still have to do your part.
The international and military standard is 3 consecutive shots recorded for MOA recognition. So Brian's 4 shot SUB MOA group was a bonus.

I have shot many 1" to 1.3" groups at 200y with mine (1/2 MOA) But again, it takes work.

Pellets make a big difference. There are many different 34gr JSB pellets on the market now, not just mk1 ans mk2.
Ive measured 4 different OALs and there a 4 different skirt punch designs that I've seen so far. All these designs seem to have a different COG and shoot differently to each other.

Head and skirt sizes also vary a lot making some hard to chamber/close the bolt on and others slip in with little resistance.
You will need to find a batch that your barrel likes most then purchase as many tins from that batch that is available or you can afford.

The Edgun labeled pellets Brian shot his 200y sub MOA group with are also the best shooters in my barrel and the same once I have achieved 1/2 MOA with at 200y.
They have a small deep pin punch and chamber smoothly. This is not to say the will suit all barrels, best to try a few different sorts from the lucky dip game of buying JSBs.

Pellet prep is also a key factor, if you intend to shoot tiny groups way out there then sorting pellets by weight and head size is a must. Toss aside any with marks in the dome or bent skirts.

Last but not least keep you bore spotless.
shooting the heavies at high velocities leads up your bore like you wont believe.
Im cleaning mine about every 80 to 100 shots and its filthy. Pay close attention to your choke and scrub with a bronze brush at the same intervals and your accuracy will be unbeatable.
A light spray of silicone lube into your tin of pellets can help prevent lead building up too fast also.

Wingman is 100% correct until i see what pellet is liked by my barrel i wont be shooting through 1 hole at 200 yards even after i do find the right pellet it will take a bit of practice and a calm day do get a tight group. With my Crown i can consistently shoot 3/4" groups at 100 yards i have not shot at 200 yards yet.But even if i cant duplicate it i will be having fun doing the process. Im not into tournaments it just not my thing i just always want to do my best and shoot better than my last attempt.
