I picked up this Edgun Leyla depinger from Edgunwest but have been unable to figure out how to install as it did not come with any instructions. Anyone seen one of these and familiar with setup and install? See pic attached of the depinger....
Thanks Art, but I was unable to get that link to work. I believe there may be a few people who installed this depinger and got it to work great. Like most Leyla’s, mine is super accurate but does have an annoying “ping”. The install should be easy but I don’t want to mess anything up so I’d like to see some sort of install instructions.
I asked Brain and he said the wool goes in first then the depinger. I've never taken apart an Edgun and had mine installed in about 5min. These guns are really simple!
AirgunnerPCP - thanks for the pic...that’s helps. I agree these guns are simple and super easy to take apart. Let us know how well the depinger is working for you?
I'd say the depinger worked pretty well. It's definitely more comfortable to shoot (I no longer put in an earplug). However it didn't cure all of the ping instead it took the dwell out of it. There's still noise from the hammer and valve but it sounds much more like your typical PCP. The only other bullpup I have to compare it to is my Uragan and while it's action is still quieter than the Lelya. I'm still putting more shots through it but I think it was well worth the 5-10min it took to install and any reduction in shot count. For reference my Lelya is a .22 set at 25fpe.
The wire bundle goes in loose and the oring is just an extra.
As far as getting it installed, mine popped right past the lip in the air tube. I just pulled mine apart again and can't find any evidence of an interference fit on the depinger. Below you can see how it fits in the tube. When sliding it down the tube, once it hits the lip it just takes a little more force to compress the oring and slide it in. Usually I tap valve assemblies to compress the Orings in tubes on airguns just because it's less effort but it's entirely possible to push the depinger in without doing that just pushing with your hands.
This morning I did a direct comparison of depinger/no depinger and found with my tune settings it makes only a slight difference. I've dropped reg pressure (85-90ish bar using the scale on the end of the reg and assuming it came set at 125bar) and have been able to lower the hammer spring tension quite a bit. I'm shooting 15.9gr JSBs @ 840fps for reference. In my opinion, it's worth it to cut the dwell of the ping. Being that ping "tolerance" is very shooter subjective you may have a different opinion. Hope this helps.
Great thanks for the detailed feedback. I’m going to install and see if it makes any difference. I have my gun tuned to shoot JSB 25gr Kings at 880 FPS and it’s an absolute laser!!
Neither I or my father could get the plastic doo-hickey with the o-ring on it to pass the ridge that is in the air cylinder, tried both o-rings. Thanks in advance!
