EBR and NUAH (nothing under a hundred) targets with FX Boss .25

Went to local outdoor range this morning. Weather warm, wind light @ 1-3 mph. I haven't shot 100 yards for a while, as I have been spoiled with the 30 yard challenge and N50 shorter distances ( 30 yards and 50 yards ). I had two flags out, one at 8-10 yards from the bench and the 2nd flag around 75 yards.

I brought some NUAH 110lb cardstock targets and some virtual EBR100 yard Center Cut targets from 2020. I shot both JSB MK2 and MK1 Heavy pellets ( no slugs ) at approximately 910-915 FPS with the FX Boss .25 cal with Superior Heavy liner. I shot a "222" and "225" for the EBR targets, but the wind was light. I should have taken more sighters in between target bulls. I numbered them in sequence, as to how I rotated and shot the target bulls. One shot at each bull, then rotate to the next. I always start at bottom from right to left.

I forgot to mention that I forgot my moderator and left at home, so I shot with no moderator. Glad I had my ear muffs!

Have some pics of gun/bench set up, flags and target cards.

Nice shooting! On the EBR targets, it looks like the Mk2s have considerably better vertical dispersion than the Mk1s. I'll bet that was LOUD!. Plugging those to 0.35" like at EBR or RMAC would have given you a 228 on that card. The winning score this year was 229, but the winds are Rio Salado were crazy on the final's day.

Thanks Mike and ThomasT..

Did not know that little fact about the MK2's and vertical dispersion. Can you explain vertical dispersion in a sentence or too? I hear that term all the time, and I don't know what it means.

Yes, it was loud! Louder than my Annie rimfires for sure. But, I was the only one at the 100 yard sight-in range today. lol

I think I plugged with a .030" scoring plug, and I could not recall if EBR uses a .030 or .035" plug. Glad you clarified. If I was at Rio Salado and you were in the lane next to me, I would have been hitting your target vs. aiming at mine with those winds. :) But, even with little to no wind, I was a happy camper today.

Vertical dispersion is the high to low on a group or a score card. I'm sure maybe my troll will step in with the exact Webster's definition, but that's the jist of it. So, the "average" of the distance from your high to low shots looks better with the Mk2 than with the Mk1, but on your NUAH groups it's the opposite. The wind does have an effect on the vertical, but not nearly as much as it does on the horizontal. So, what that tells me is your ES (or SD) is good, and the pellets are very close to the same weight out of the tin (unlike a lot of .22 RDM tins). Getting ready for EBR I sorted two 300 count tins of .25 King Heavy and the high to low was about 4 grains for all but about 30 pellets.

Hello tommyb

That is some very nice shooting. Beautiful Range and it is always nice to be the only shooter, much easier to concentrate. The finish on that stock looks like glass :)

ThomasT, thanks.

This was Mike’s Boss, and he had that Stock beautified! I bought it from CC and love to shoot it for the 30 yard challenge, N50 50 yards, and also tried it at 100 yards a few times. It’s a great addition to the Safari and RAW for bench shooting.

Very helpful! Now I get it.

Thanks.

My good buddy Nick @socaloldman refinished the stock and did a great job as always....
