While I haven't any interest in doing such a thing. I do appreciate your willingness to share this information & ideas with others. IMO sharing ones knowledge so freely says a lot for ones character.
I'm not using very costly equipment either. My Walmart tripod is stout, and cheaply priced;
I also use a 2012 version of the Canon Power Shot Camera;
The SX500IS Shoots in HD 720p and also saves stereo sound files separately. HD video as well as pictures. It can also use the SanDisk Extreme Pro 32GB SD cards that give very little, if any degradation during up/down loads. I also use movie maker (not the one called Windows movie maker!) to edit all my videos. I'd like to find one as good that has a green-screen function as well? I could also use some diffused movie lights, and a couple Go-Pros with head bands for hunting/fishing videos. So my set-up is very minimalistic. But the cool part is, it's a $500 camera I got used/gone over for 70 bucks at H&S photo in Manhattan, NYC. 3 floors of fun. I still have my old Canon FTb 35mm. Canon's work-horse before the F1 came out, using 220 film. I think the hardest part of making videos is and always was being in front of the camera, rather than behind it! That took me a 100's of hours of shooting to get comfortable in front of the camera. That part is not as easy as it seems, folks. It takes practice...and a certain, absence of the imagination...
For me I didn't really feel uncomfortable, I think biggest part is I'm looking at the back of a tablet instead of into a camera...Unionrdr thanks for sharing your setup !!!!
