so I’m waiting for a new pressure gauge to be delivered and decided that since the oil was @1yr old I’d change it. Oil is very, very viscous, clean and same color as it went in (royal purple—uh—purple). But it’s taking FOREVER to drain out. I currently have a board propping up the back of the pump and the front is hanging off my shop bench with the drain hole over a funnel that’s in a pop bottle. I took the breather vent off thinking it was a vacuum issue not letting the oil out the tiny hole but it’s coming out the same rate...very slowly.
Easier way to drain Yong Heng oil?

Yup it comes out slow for sure. But it does come out you are doing it pretty much like I did. Go away, and come back to it and it will be drained.

Best to drain any oil when hot. For YH I'd drain few minutes after using it while its as hot as it gets. Then contamination should be suspended in the oil, ready to be drained out, instead of settling/congealing in cold oil on the bottom of the pumps crankcase. Heat will thin down oil making for a quicker drain.

I am not using the purple oil but have used #46 Hydrualic oil and #100 compressor oil in my Yong Heng. The oil are certainly not "very, very viscous" and draining is quite fast. I think the grade # represents the viscosity so I wonder what the value is for the purple oil. May be you are living in a very cold place ?

It is the front cover gasket that causes that.. If you happen to take the front cover off, look at the gasket and modify it..
