wanted a clamp that could be rotated and moved would not cost alot of money and was heavy enough to create a stable work station. Wanting several vises for multiple projects or so not to have to reclamp them. The ability two use a pair on the same rifle if needed. setting them aside in a safe manner with the rifle in them. Got the idea looking at my drill press vises.

One of four vises I modified for the cost of $14 each.

I have what looks to be the same drill press vise in my airgun mancave

But if it serves it's purpose, looks like you've discovered a new use - now, can you really get a good zero with that set up?

Made them for mainly working on them. Tunes, triggers, soft bedding etc... but ill have to try zeroing using them. Never even crossed my mind for sighting.

Just anyone who tries it be careful.

Careful that you don’t crack your stock!!

A synthetic should be okay but a true gun stock vice would apply most pressure on the other two axis points of front/back. The stability on the middle is more walls than closing pressure. Barrel removals are a different game but this is a good topic.

I think a section of all the best DIY videos made by AGN members would be great.

I’m just saying be careful as I’ve had to learn the hard way why some jobs require “specialty” tools.
