Dreamline compact barrel swap..I'm lost!

This coming week I'm about to receive my first FX... I chose the fx dreamline compact lite. I really didnt get the caliber of my choice (177) I wanted 22. My thinking was I will swap barrels when the kit comes available.. but after searching and reading all I can. I have done nothing but confuse the crap out of myself... liners, sleeves, shrouds oh my!!

My question... if I have the 177 and want 22. Cant I just get a 22 liner (I'm assuming this is the barrel) and the bolt for a 22, mag for 22 and be good to go. Or do I have to buy the kit??

When you see the videos on you tube showing liner replacement it is typically just changing to a slug or Superior liner within the same caliber. But what is not stated is the fact that each transfer port and probe is caliber specific should you want to change calibers

The barrel swap kit is a whole barrel assembly being changed so you can change length as well.

Jasonmc, it's stupid easy :)

Yes, all you need is the barrel (in the liner) and the probe. First the scope needs to be off. You loosen 2 grub screws, remove the barrel, loosen one grub screw for the probe swap, re-tighten the probe grub screw, replace the barrel with the new one and tighten the new barrel with the 2 grub screws. It may take 10 minutes the first time, thereafter, less than 5 minutes.

The barrel needs to be off when you replace the probe so that you have room to insert it.

when the kit you want is available it will be $399, unless it is on sale

You can’t just put a .22 liner in your .177 barrel system. The brass transfer port is too small. When doing a caliber swap, you buy the complete barrel assembly and just slide the whole works in, tighten it down, change your probe then get to work retuning your gun. Like someone else said, if you wanted a .22, why buy a .177. FX loves you.

I couldn't find a 22 compact lite in stock...if I wanted one now it was either a 25 or 177. I obviously didn't want a 25... I kinda figured one would have to buy the barrel kit.. In that case I'll probably buy the 22 liner and machine the rest myself.

Thanks everyone for your help.. much appreciated. Merry Christmas!!

I think you are failing to grasp what you’re going to need if you just buy a liner. Which you shouldn’t. But if you do just buy a liner, you will also need a .22 Liner lock #19969, .22 Barrel Attachment #19961, .22 Barrel Inlet #19629, plus all the orings that go in each of those parts. Ain’t worth it. Just buy the whole barrel assembly.

Once I get mine is delivered (Wednesday) and study it a bit more...i will have a better understanding of what is needed. And the haas cnc lathe 5 axis will do the rest in helping me with my 22 issues

You don’t need to use a CBC lathe to do a caliber change. Buy the caliber kit $400 unless on sale, a magazine or 2 and pellets. It has all you need, the barrel, new shroud and probe. Take the .177 stuff and set it aside or sell it to someone.
