Dream tac compact .25

Just received my dream tac in .25cal. Scope is on the way. So first impression, a bit longer then what I was told. I confirmed with the dealer before making my payment and asked if it was same length as the .22cal, I was told yes. Apparently it is about 2inches longer then the .22cal. Barrel is 17inches (430mm?). Reason for purchasing this rifle was to get a compact platform. It is longer when what I prefer. I did get to shoot over chrony with it. It was doing 800-810fps avg at 150bar Reg with 25gr jsb and that’s without making any adjustments. Turned up the hammer spring tension to max and didn’t improve fps. I also tried fitting the 480cc carbon bottle but it did not have enough clearance from the barrel. I measure the diameter of both valves on bottle and seems to be the same size. I did not get shot count on it yet. The cocking effort is really smooth. Overall the gun is nice. Get a .22cal if extra 2inches matters.

Nice looking gun! What's the OAL of it? Your barrel shroud will need to be removed to fit the CF bottle.

Overall length with my setup is 34inches. It might be different for others depending on the length of pull on buttstock since it’s adjustable. The rifle folded is at 24inches. I haven’t removed the shroud yet but I think it might share the same design as the crown with the super light barrel. If it is I don’t think the liner will stay in place without the shroud since there’s spacers that holds it in place. I’m not sure but just saying from the way it looks.

I actually think the 2 inch longer barrel looks more proportionate to this gun than the 22 cal pics I’ve seen. Will be interested in shot count and accuracy.

That OAL of 34" is without a moderator attached to the muzzle? Is the rifle quiet without a moderator?

Yes overall length is 34inches without moderator. It’s not loud to me since I shoot .30cal without one and I’m used to it. I just like the rifles shorter for more compactness. Can’t get shot count atm until I fill up my big tank. The nomad failed on me last week so back to the dive shop till I sort it out.

I looked on FX website it says the 177 & 22 cal are 500MM and the 25 & 30 are 600 MM

I think the .25 shotcount is around 20-25 shots pr fill right? And the .22 is around 36 shots pr fill at 856fps

Thanks for mentioning the difference in length between 22 and 25. I had not noticed the difference until these last couple threads. 

I have been debating 22 or 25, and this could play a part.

The barrel on the .22 is 380mm 

The barrel length on the Dream Tact Compact is 380mm but on the Dream Tactical as mentioned is 500mm in 177 and 22 and 600mm on the 25 caliber. Bill

I haven’t gotten shot count yet due to no source of air. When I get my big tank filled I’ll report back in. I did chrony it and it was around 800-810fps 25gr jsb at 150bar .25cal. If I was to do it over again I’d go with the 22cal cause of the extra 2inch length.

You could do a port and prope job and gain 40fps

Thanks for the information. I thought it was shorter then 34 inches that's not too compact that's normal buildup length.

I am not sure but there is a lot of information here on the forum.

just did it on mine, it is really easy and it gave 30fps more, so it shots around 880fps now without any adjustment.

Did some testing this morning, it is shooting the jsb hades at 910fps but it only shots 1 magasin then it`s of the reg, so tuned it down to 860fps and it shoots 2 mags so really happy with that..

next try some FX slugs and see how it works
