Dream Tac Compact .22 Power Plenum?

Hello All

New guy here, saw a pcp on amazon and a month later I have two Dream Tac Compact's. ( Have not shot them yet.)

So now I see there is a power plenum for Dreamline..... but it will not work on the compact.

It feels a little disappointing that I have yesterdays gun and I just got them.

I was hoping FX could do something, I dont want to return them to the dealer I'm sure they are a mom and pop dealer ( nothing wrong with that ) and I don't want to jam them up.

So am I crying about my toys?? or am I thinking correct?

Do Tell and be kind.

Don’t know why you have 2 of them but they are pretty dam good airguns. Don’t think anyone has a complaint about the compact. Unfortunately you can t use the plenum on the compact unless you change the shroud. Some guys are making custom shrouds from carbon fiber tube. I have a compact coming on Monday from Utah air. I had a dreamline tac but the barrel was just to dam long. Sold it.

Hi

I hope your Families are well.

Lets be clear these are toys.

Would it be possible to have a top of the line current FX product in .22?

I would give these two back to the factory for 1 current model in .22.

I have over 1500 rounds of ammo already , FX slugs , JSB Jumbo Exact, Diabolo Hades and Predator GTO no lead.

I will pay the difference for a current gun. Maybe the smallest FX with power Plenum from the factory?

Thank you for caring

To the OP I think you are a little confused!

For a start you have probably the most eagerly awaited gun in the current line-up, the DTC! what you have has not been superceeded, you must take the DT"COMPACT" version for what it is however, a gun designed to shoot the 18g JSB pellet at a certain power level whilst retaining a reasonable shot count and being extremely portable, it is NOT particularly suited in that guise to shooting at high power levels with slugs or heavy for caliber .22 pellets, such as the 25g RD JSB MONSTER, which is really all adding the plenum might achieve for you.

You could as above fit the plenum if you were prepared to change the shroud, or just use the standard .177 barrel with the smaller diameter shroud, or a standard screw in cylinder perhaps, rather than the self contained valve on the cylinder you have.

The DT-COMPACT version, sits in a very particular "niche" it does not replace the CROWN or IMPACT in certain applications and was never designed to, if you want lots of power either use the Dreamline in it's standard barrel length configuration with the long cylinder or 480cc bottle and fit the plenum, or buy a CROWN and an IMPACT as well!

The DREAMLINE is composed of almost totally interchangeable and swappable parts, once you have got your head around this you will realise that it would be very easy to get what you wanted with a certain set-up.

Hope that all makes sense!

X2 you do have the latest and greatest. If you were after something different, research and due diligence is required. You got excited and hit the buy button too soon. Buyer's remorse.

Thank you for the perspective. I will look for the interchangeable parts you mentioned. Is there a vendor that specializes in the Dreamline "parts" ? I cant seem to locate one.

Thank you again for the help.

I can see why the OP may feel a little "shortchanged" a BIG QUESTION on Steves list (AEAC) in the latest video was the issue of FX constantly developing and releaasing upgrades and how this would make certain customers feel!

For those of us that are lucky enough to own multiple FX guns and understand how the system works it's easy, for those who are new to it, it probably seems a little overwhelming!

But rest assured, that interchangeablility is what makes it all so much fun, even more when you are locked indoors with nothing to do LOL!
