Dramatic drop in pellet and loss of accuracy.

Today I finaly got to get my FX Impact out that I received on Tuesday. Utah air tuned it for the 34 grain JSB at 900 fps. I was shooting pellet on pellet at 35 yrds, than at 50 I had to dial 5 clicks to be centered. Does this seem about right? Well this is not the issue. After about the third fill with tank my pellets started missing the target and hitting the dirt before. Same was true at 35 yd and 50 yd. It was getting dark so I called it baffled since it was going so well. When putting my gun away in the safe I noticed my moderator was slightly loose. Not a lot loose just barely. A quick turn tightened it right up. Would this slight loose moderator throw my pellet off by that much at those distances ? If so does anyone ever use a tiny bit of lock tight to keep this from happening. I could imagine if hunting was involved it would be very frustrating.

Thank you for all the feed back.

BrocStar, I’m betting the above advice is spot on. Shoot without the moderator and see if it’s good. My RedWolf was damaged in shipping and the shroud was bent and clipping pellets.

AOA repaired it and it’s perfect. Since you were shooting lights out already the gun can do it, and it’s pretty much got to be clipping issues. Let us know what you find.

So I had a chance to go back out yesterday. Tightened the moderator and zero at 35 and 50. Was lights out most shots over than user error. Definitely the moderator. Unfortunately when I got home my Air Venturi 4500 psi compressor took a poop and has to be shipped back Monday. Can't win I tell you. Ordered a markmans portable compressor incase this happens again I won't be out of air.

Cheers and thanks for the help.

So I have another update. Went out today to hunt some Eurasian Dove. They are year round in CA. Anyhow. First three shots went great. Two birds down. Then I started missing, a lot. Noticed the birds were not flying off from the turbulence. Thats usually what they do when its a shooter error and close miss. Anyhow as I thought this was odd I got a target out and did 35 yards. I was 8 clicks high. I had to adjust down to re zero the gun. Remember, yesterday I zeroed at 35 and 50 and was pellet on pellet. I do not understand why the pellet were shooting high. After I re zeroed the scope I had no further problems.. Wasnt the moderator this time as I mad sure to check that first. I just hope I dont have to continue to go through this with the impact. I know its adjustable and tunable an all but Utah air was supposed to special tune it at 900 fps with 34 grain JSB's. Is this a normal thing with the impact ? Getting off target now and then then having to zero again?

Thanks for any ideas
