New to the air rifle world and I am wondering if I purchase the Dragon Claw .50 Cal would it be good for hunting deer ..I hunt piny woods of east Texas so my shots aren't very long 100 yards at most ..any info is appreciated
Go with the 909S .45 single tube and get a power tune. That will boost velocity with round balls (used for reference comparison) from 800 fps to about 930 fps.The .50 will generate slightly more FPE but the .45 will have better velocity and trajectory which is key to shot placement. Single tube makes a little more power and balances much nicer than the 500cc. Keep in mind sighted in at 50 yds with the faster lighter ammo it would still be over 12" low at 100 yds and nearly half (5") of that drop will be between 90 to 100 yds. making distance judgment critical.
I have an old shinsung dragon slayer 50 cal rifle with similar power and i would not shoot a deer past 60 yards. I would treat that more like a bow or crossbow.
