Down goes smelly cat

Nice! Get those stinkers.

Been smelling them around here, too lately.

I saw that video before I took the shot. I'm with Bob O, he has shot dozens, they all sprayed regardless of shot placement. You're forewarned.

I watched Those videos and so far got 2 skunks with vital shots and just like the video they were t even sure what happened and stumbled around looking confused. It did take longer than in the videos for mine to die but they did lay down and slowly closed their eyes. Warning, try not to take a follow up shot because they will realized something is really wrong and run away. I lost one that way and pretty sure he died soon but no idea on where, judging from the massive trail of blood I’m sure it didn’t make pass more than 2 houses down. Oh all three did not spray, smell it a little bit but nothing the next morning.

the key I think is behind the shoulder/legs and aim a little lower than you normally would, the heart is rather low. Try 1/4 to 1/3 from the bottom of the chest. I also let them stiffen up till the morning before try to move it.

I'm secretly hoping a skunk gets inside the garage and sprays so the wife will let me get an ATN.

Ingenious! I'm with you!! 😄

🤔 Your thinking gets my wheels turning. ➔ Sometimes I wish that the city pest animals that we shoot would be just a little more "pesty" to humans....

Skunks have an obvious edge there.

But for the typical 20th century city dweller (and their law-makers!) all animals are simply cute and need to be kept alive at all cost (well, unless they have six legs — then all kinds of excuse [and screams] come up).

I wonder if it would be easier to get pesting permits in large cities if pigeons would defacate uncontrollably twice their daily $#it dosis while in flight — diarrhea-style!! 😄

I wonder if Peruvian cities would be more forthcoming with culling permits for vultures if these very common birds somehow took a particular liking to nesting in airplane wheel wells and roosting on airliner wings!! 😄

I wonder if modern US American suburbian towships would be ready to revise their overly strikt shooting prohibitions if feral hogs and deer didn't just eat flowers and dig up gardens, but somehow were able to punkture car tires!! 😄

Sorry, I got carried away dreaming.... On a Sunday night a hunter is allowed to dream a bit, right?!? 😄

They've infected with rabies by biting 3 people and a horse around here in the last ten years. All had to go through the shots and the horse had to be euthanized.

I consider them weapons of mass destruction since there is a chemical and biological aspect to their risk. As such I could care less about ethics in killing them. Many people trap and drown them. My goal is to hopefully do it stinklessly but it's a crap shoot. I do agree that a head shot guarantees a full spray, even if it's a follow up shot on a clearly already mortally wounded varmint. Body shots typically see them do like the video shows but not always. The only thing I've seen that for sure prevents a spray is a spine shot and it's very difficult to pick it out from a side shot since their fur is thick on the top. If it's looking at you aim for the middle of it's stripe and it's tail will instantly drop and they will attempt to flee by dragging themselves off. If you are so inclined you can now put one through their vitals or head and they can't spray. If they are pointing their butt at you ready to spray, a shot at the base of the tail just above the anus will drop their tail and take out the back legs also.

I've been killing about one or two a week for the last 6 months and they just keep on coming. Never seen so many in my life!

Could you just imagine how busy we could be in some cities if they linked Covid to pigeons?

Bob, you might be into something here! How can we get our hands on some avian flu and plent them o. Pigeons.....😂

Oh, this is getting good now!! 😄

It appears that a lot of airgunners are creative people.

I can SEE the wheels turning!! 😄
