Doubled my Prophet

I picked up a 2nd RTI Prophet Performance V1 from forum member Leon.

I had a .22 with the 1:32 twist rate Lothar Walther polygonal barrel. This 2nd PP v1 is a .25 - which also has a slower twist rate (I believe the .25 is 1:24 - but not positive about this) Lothar Walther polygonal barrel.

Note that these V1 RTI proprietary barrels in .22 and .25 are DIFFERENT than the V2 barrels. The V2 barrels have faster twist rates optimized to shoot slugs as well as pellets. The V1 .22 and .25 “Long Range” proprietary barrels are optimized for pellets- and they are awesome for that.

I took this new .25 out today and zeroed a scope - as I only had 10 .25 pellets, I had to make every shot count. Took 5 to get zeroed at 45 yards - then shot a tiny 5 shot group. Then I was out of .25 pellets, lol.

So I swapped in my .177 barrel. RTI’s .177 and .30 Lothar Walther barrels are regular LW barrels - not polygonal. The .177 is 510mm, the other 3 calibers are 600mm.

I had just polished the .177 barrel - JB bore paste followed by JB bore Brite followed by Flitz. I even polished the transfer port hole in the barrel - you can still see some cotton in it in the pic, lol (I removed it before installing the .177 barrel).

These guns make swapping calibers about 4 minutes - super quick and easy. I did drop the reg pressure from 125 to 85 bar for .177. It was shooting JSB 10.3g at 1025 fps with the reg at 125. Dropping reg to 85 dropped the velocity to 911 fps.

In the pictures you can see the .177 vs. the .25. The .25 has a air stripper attached. My .22 RTI Long Range barrel does not have this air stripper - it looks exactly like the .177, just longer.

In the pictures you can also see the RTI barrel removal tool. It costs $25, and screws onto the muzzle of the barrel - making it simple to pull the barrel out of the shroud. No need to remove the shroud, which is bolted to the frame and very stiff.

So I now have the .25 as well as the .177 and .22 V1 Lothar Walther barrels. Both of my Prophet Performance rifles were purchased new in 2022. So, for those wondering, the 2022 full size Prophet Performance had Lothar Walther barrels in all 4 calibers. The .22 and .25 barrels were special - designed by RTI to win long range benchrest competitions with pellets.

The 2022 Prophet Performance COMPACT barrels may NOT be Lothar Walther in all calibers - I don’t own a PP Compact, so I don’t have information on the compact model.

I love these rifles - super accurate, insane power if you want to crank it up, simple and very compact - even the “full sized” version that I have two of.

You sold me. I see your dealing with Talon. Are you in Florida? South Carolina here

I bought my RTI PP .22 from Talon Tunes - Spring 2022.

Leon bought his Prophet Performance .25 from Talon Tunes - Summer 2022. I just bought it from Leon via the Classifeds here.

I bought my RTI .177 barrel kit (magazine, pellet probe and barrel) from the RTI shop in Spain. I also got o-ring kits from them. Despite their name, they are NOT part of RTI, but they ship fast and are a good source for RTI barrels and parts.
Website: https://www.rtiarms.shop/en-us

I love these guns. RTI is not known like FX and Daystate (I own FX and Daystate), but these guns are very accurate and solidly built.

Also, the calibers are super easy to swap. Even the barrels from the Prophet Performance V2 work on the V1.

I’ve had zero issues. I own two v1s. I can’t speak for the Prophet Performance V2 - which is what you would be buying. Key differences are that the V2 barrels are different in .22 & .25 (faster twist rates to accommodate slug shooting) - and 2nd key difference is that the V2 has a new “balanced valve” that is supposed to provide more power while using lower regulator pressures- more efficient use of air.

My PP2 compact came with a CZ barrel, I think some of the PP2 longs made it out with the new LW Slug/Pellet barrels with the hogged out ports .
So the slow twist long range barrels will have a L R on the barrel,, I think I am going to check my PP1 .25 long I don't remember the LR on the barrel,, I will post back and look at my 177 and 30 to just for grins,,,, Thanks for the info....

I bought my PP 1 long from AOA, It came in 25 caliber, No air striper, Black Barrel No LW anywhere on the barrel just 6.35 / .25 Here is a picture of it.
What year did you buy it?

Originally, just the PP V1 (long) in .22 had the slow twist polygonal rifling barrel. The barrel was designed around the JSB .22 Monster Redesigned pellet.

Later, the .25 LW slow twist polygonal barrel became available with the full length PP V1. I believe that this special .25 LR barrel was standard on the 2022 .25s - not sure if it started shipping before 2022.

I wanted both the .22 and .25 PP V1 LR barrels as I only shoot pellets, and these barrels are incredible at maintaining accuracy at higher than normal pellet speeds. I don’t believe RTI will continue to offer the V1 LR barrels, so mine are future classics, lol.

I may eventually buy a V2 LR barrel in .22 - if I ever decide to play with slugs.

In any case, if you are buying a used (or new old stock) PP V1 in either .22 or .25 - make sure that it has a “Long Range” barrel if you are primarily shooting pellets.

I am also a pellet shooter, I bought the Prophet I Long in 2022 , Funny My barrel does not say LW anywhere on it, Could it be a CZ barrel? My 177 has the LW on it and my 30 caliber is also black and its got LW on it,,
I just tried to pull the barrel out of my PP 2 compact with the CZ barrel, Its super tight and I have the tool that screws into the barrel, It would not come out , I will just wait and take the shroud off and see if I can ease the barrel out , Its really stuck it there good,

Mike - You might be dealing with the same thing I went thru with my 1st Prophet 2 Compact that was part of the first shipment that went out. It took me an hour to get my barrel out by hand. When it was finally out the blueing was gone at the breech from being so tight. I have 3 other Prophets 1’s and never had that problem. That was also when I realized I was sent a CZ barrel instead of the RPB barrel lol

I have a LW .22 LR in my Prophet 1 and also have the shorter .22 barrel along with the .30 barrel. From the picture I took, clearly the .30 caliber is a LW barrel but there are no markings on the shorter .22 barrel. Maybe a CZ?

The above 22 barrel is the original CZ barrel that was made for the Priest. At least that’s what Mr. Rob had told me a couple years ago. I have a few of them and they are all really accurate.

The more I fiddle and shoot the RTI guns the more I like them, I am thinking about selling some of my other guns just because the Prophets fill the niche so well. But I can still gripe, Remember how big the double port holes were in the RPB barrel.
Just looked at the barrel port hole in the 22 CZ barrel, Its TINY, Barrel port hole is not the name but its the only thing I could think of.
I think this new PP 2 Valve is designed to work and function with the giant double port holes and not the tiny CZ one,,, My two cents, and gripe for the day..

I thought my Prophet 2 Compact in 22 had the 510MM barrel, , Thats what I was told,
Just looked yep, Still in gun,, Was going to slide my 177 barrel in the gun and see how the new valves did with a little more open port, Yea the 177 is a lot bigger than the CZ 22 port,, Oh the 177 barrel is LW . My have to use a little heat to get that 22 PP2 CZ barrel out, I am sure the o rings will be toast, Maybe a little Graphite lube when I slide the barrel up in the loading magazine part then slide it out???

With the exception of my dreamline (shot very little) I've had nothing else in my hands but an RTI Prophet V1 (22cal) and RTI Prophet compact V1 (177 and 25 barrels) for a little over a year.. ( wife has a V1 compact in 22.. that Im not allowed to touch with summiting a form and waiting a week for a response) target shooting, pest control and small game hunting... It definitely fills a niche for me. I couldn't be happier with it's simple, rugged and powerful design..
