FX Double Bottle Compact

Im tossing around the idea of getting a Saber Tactical double bottle adapter for a compact Impact M3.

Does anyone have a similar setup, or picture of a setup they could share? I'm just trying to get a feel for how wide and heavy a compact would be with double 300cc bottles.

Part of me thinks that I'm going against the build philosophy of the compact; being compact, light and portable. The other part thinks that compact only applies to length and the added shot count might really be a fun thing.

Its a .22 and im planning on chucking 28-30grn slugs ~900 FPS
With a 500 you'll be needing to go up in caliber or barrel length for 30s ime. 28s maybe. 53 fpe is doable but 30s is about the serious power cutoff in 22 ime. Not that you can't do it, it just gets really annoying to get it to shoot right and not too loud or wasteful. Monster hades pellets and 25 grain and lighter slugs will be ez to get it to shoot, even couple hundred yards.

Do you already have more hammer or spring in the gun and run at least 150 bar?

I agree with this. Every barrel length has its limitations. I’ve always been a 500 and 600mm Impact guy. I just can’t go where the 700mm guys go and have a happy gun. My one compact .22 in the picture was on 30gr for a while. It’s a better gun staying in the 23-25gr range. If I would ever feel the need to return to 30gr, I’ll go 600mm..

I had my maverick in a double sided AR case and I couldn’t close it all the way. So those tiles are 12” X 12” so you looking at 6-7” wide

I am the opposite i look for a conversion away from a bottle to a tube .
A good regulated tube gun has a place. Heck even some unregulated tubes. My next expensive toy might be one of those dreamline light compacts in a teeny tiny tube for a backpack small varmint gun.

Since I shoot varmint from odd spots mostly I've learned to like less air and lower shot count guns for size and weight for sneaky shots. When it comes time to shoot from a Bench I just got the biggest carbon bottle I've ever seen online in our realm and have a reg set at 240 bar to a manifold with twin whips so my buddy and I can shoot all day off of it at 50 fpe in 22. He's 500mm and I'm 700, his max power is my low power and we both shoot the same 23gr slug at 100 yards at close to the same speed.

Really appreciate the pic. I might just go for a standard barrel length with a 580cc bottle after all.

To be honest. I dont know what hammer is in it, bought it 2nd hand and had to send it off for a reseal so I haven't had much time with it at all.

Makes sense. Im not married to the 30gn but I did buy 1k of them so Ill be on them for a little while. Ive got 600 heavy barrel kit so ill probably just grab a 580cc bottle to chuck the 30gns

That sounds like a really nice combo to me. I dare say that's what I wish I had done over the 700. The extreme power bug wears off when you realize how little it takes to be accurate and really reach out there if your gun is highly refined. Inversely my 500mm buddy wishes he could achieve slightly more power too.

Iirc for our bore the optimum barrel length was 600mm in some airgun calculator I had found over the years best of luck and I hope you have a lot of fun dialing that gun into what you want. I hope you don't overshoot your mark like I did and make the gun too high power and overly specialized. If all else fails and your gun doesn't like the thousand 30 gainers (I'm guessing nsa?) shoot me a dm, my 700 is set up ideally for 30-34 grain.

It’s funny you say this. I just got my Dreamtac back from my dad. I had to reseal his BSA so the Dreamtac was a loaner. First thing he said was he didn’t like the bottle. I said you’re in luck. Went home and got the tube the gun came with. It does handle way nicer this way. So I snapped a pic before I put it back in the safe. Going to leave it a tube gun for a while.
