Do you stand up , or lay down

I need to learn about the best way to leave a rifle for next use. With a PCP do you leave it standing up , at max pressure , or laying on the side at 1,000 psi. What's the normal drill for a Springer stand up , or lay down
I would like to hear some different opinions on how air gunners store there rifles for next use for the next day. OldVet wants to know.
OV.

At my age if i lay down i may not get back up . Kneeling down i grunt to get up these days .. i becoming a good candidate for first aleart 😜

I guess i leave mine any old way. Lying on somthing , propped up in a corner, on gun rack , ect... Im not particular . It lies where it falls . All seem to shoot fine when i grab one up to shoot it ..

I store my guns full of air usually standing up.

At first I thought that we were talking about peeing....

Standing in a safe, butt-down, with full or partial air for PCP.
I only have one pumper, and it stands up, butt-down with a single pump left in it.
No gots any Springers, so no help there at all.

mike
Never heard of laying down to pee. Unless you are on a gurney. Lol
Put it in its case. With air in it always. For springer, uncocked, obviously. And leave the breach open on break barrels.
Never heard of leaving breech open why?

Keep the pressure off the breech seal maybe? I think they can go flat over time. I only have a few break barrels and dont use them very much at all so I might be wrong on that.

Laying down for sure mate ;)

Bingo. My rear sights are on my receiver, not the barrel. If they were on the barrel, i dont think it'd matter much. Leave this one sitting with breech closed for a while and zero will move.

Good lord!! I’d keep that in a climate controlled glass case.

Looking at the header, shooting position came to mind. Standing up my back hurts. Laying down I need help to get back up. I shoot sitting down on a bench. This getting old isn't all its cracked up to me. Guns, standing up, butt down in the safe. If its a wooden stock, might think of having the barrel down so any oil doesn't get into the wood and rotting it. But that's really for the powder guns. I don't think airgunners use that much lube? I'm really new to pcp world BTW so my opinion might not be worth much (G)....

Will oil actually rot wood? Ive never thought about that. I always figured it would protect it. Unless the oil is trapping pre existing moisture? I have no idea, to be honest. But I've never worried about getting oil on my wood. Ugh, that doesnt sound right 😅

I don't think it matters weather you lean it in your safe or hang it on your wall, I never leave either cocked and generally put my PCPs away filled just over the regulator setting. I don't know if having it filled to max pressure has any effect, but my theory is its less stressful on the reg if it's just at the reg setting.
