My wife and I were at our gun club several years ago and a woman member asked my wife if we would like to participate in a husband and wife shoot.

Do You Shoot Airguns With Any Women?

Myself, if that counts. Never with other people, let alone in competition. I don't even know any women who shoot airguns. Or men, come to think of it. (This is PB-crazy country.)

When I was a kid I had more fun shooting junebugs off of our peaches with a red rider BB gun than any “real hunting” I was doing at the time.

My wife isn't interested in shooting sports of any kind, usually I end up shooting targets with my brother.
Air bows vs pellet guns: When my sons were young we had a couple of Air Javelin air bows. Relatively compact and quite accurate (several Robinhooded bolts) shooting at 30fpe. Had two of them in CO2 and a Pro version HPA. and eventually a larger Air Saber 100+fpe.
What surprised me is that people who would not normally enjoy shooting a pellet gun actually seemed to enjoy shooting the Air Javelin. Even the wives who don't really like their kids 'playing with air guns' were enjoying shooting an air bow. It was close enough to archery that it was more acceptable to them, and they gave the young air gun sharp shooters some unexpected competition once the arrows started flying.
They especially liked that they could easily see where their arrow was hitting the target, compared to spotting the tiny hard-to-see-at-a-distance holes left by pellets. The Air Javelins are small and light enough for any shooter to handle, loud enough to satisfy the most discriminating adolescent, and capable of light short range hunting (where legal). It's enough of a novelty that people who don't usually enjoy target practice with air guns can feel proficient after a modest amount of practice.

I have slowly but surely managed to introduce my wife to shooting airguns.
Now about one year in, she can even suggest that it is time for a shooting session!

There are three ladies that regularly shoot in our N50 matches. 2 Airgunners and 1 powder burner.

My wife and I try to take atleast an hour or two each weekend to let off some steam. She was hesitant at first (powder burner girl) when we first met. She is a darn good shot as well. Gotta love a women with a gun!
