Do you keep your pcp “filled” with air?

On my Maverick I usually fill it to just short of 300 and when I target shoot it's usually just under 200 when I shoot my daily 60 rounds or so and I just keep it there and accessible for a pest in the backyard opportunity. My first reg is set at 150 so anything above that is fine. But I have no problem filling it and letting it sit for however long it is until my next shooting session. If I won't be shooting for months I'll keep it just above 150.

All my guns get filled to 200 bar, once I'm done shooting. I refill to 200 bar and fill mags so the gun is ready to go for my next outing.

I've received conflicting opinions from people who should know. If there was a concensus, it was to store at something over the reg set point, due to valve considerations. Mostly, I don't worry about it anymore. Normal use would keep them over the set point, so I guess I'm following that advice whether intended or not.

IIRC, back when I had a Marauder it was recommended by Benjamin that it not be stored long term with air pressure. FX on the other hand feels it’s good to store under pressure.

I've got six PCPs, take turns shooting until most are ready to fill, then take an evening and run the Yong Heng. Always keep one aired up on standby, never want to be caught short. Clear to me you just need more guns. WM

Usually keep all mine at max working pressure. Only ever had two or three failed seals and in most cases the original seal was flawed from the start, never ceases to amaze me how tough rubber O-rings are and how well they hold up...just haven't been an issue for me if it was I would be a springer man only. My Bobcat has been at 200 to 230 bar for four years when not being shot all original O-rings except the breach seal.

In order to reduce the burden on the O-ring, it is stored at the usual pressure.

Thank you for all the replies! It sounds like the consensus is there is no right or wrong way but up to the individual and their own preferences. My Marauder is filled to 3000 psi but I’ll start leaving it at 2000 psi now and the Impact will probably be left around 150 bar. If I really need more firepower than that, I’ll grab a powder burner!

I'll throw my two cents in..........Shot my Marauder and the AA S510 all day yesterday. After calling it quits, I cranked up the Yong Heng and filled the Marauder to 3000 psi and the S510 to 250 bar (Full Pressure Fill on both). Then put them in the rack until next time.

My tendency is to refill my guns after I shoot them down to the “need to refill“ level. I have an electric pump and wondering if this is a good idea or irrelevant as I can fill them fairly quickly. I suppose I could put a little back in it just for emergency shots at a starling or crow. Of course the real answer is to get a larger air tank to fill it quickly when needed but I don’t have one of those “yet” . So, is it harder on the gun to keep it filled with air or am I worrying about nothing? I have an FX Impact and Benjamin Marauder.

See my signature below, I shoot about 30+ shots (down to about 2500psi) before I hand pump back to 3000psi.

The Fortitude sits idle with between 2500 and 3000psi.

I always store mine with some air in them and top off before I go shooting. It doesn’t seem to be bad on seals, since I’m keeping fairly consistent replacement intervals.

I shoot often so I'm always above regulator.
Funny, I asked this question couple years back and the consensus was " close to full ".

I keep mine all filled. Most of the time they are toped off or close to it this way the are ready to shoot. Been like this for years and never have stored one with no air in it. From what I understand it keeps the o-rings seated.

My MK1 was stored and filled at 220 BAR for over 4 years. I finally had a chance to take it out last week and expected it to be empty and have to take it apart and change a bunch of O RIngs. Was surprised it was still at 220 BAR, and has been shooting beautifully.
