Do Any Exist In The $300 Range.....

I know its a lot to ask in the price range but wondering if anyone knows of any possible options. The top thing is a reliable clickable turret, next side focus, medium weight 25oz or less is a bonus, magnification range 3-12, 4-16 or a base of 3 or 4x and max magnification isn't as critical as long as the other things are checked, and last an illuminated reticle, if no IR is possible but the others are there please let me know. Of course I would love one of those fancy March scopes but not anytime soon. Any options would be greatly appreciated.

There are plenty of scopes available for under $300, but your question is also extremely broad. Any particular magnification range? FFP or SFP? I also wouldn’t expect top tier glass for under $300, but there are plenty out there. Having just finished shopping for a scope I can say this, if you use the AGN search feature and you will find plenty of good info on scopes in your price range. @Jugleshooter has posted tables that he’s compiled comparing scopes, but more importantly very helpful instructions to use when comparing and shopping for scopes. Some posts contain links to websites selling the scopes. I found Joe Rhea’s reviews on YouTube to be very helpful in evaluating scope components and overall value. I also suggest reading the specs and customer reviews on the websites selling them. Previous buyers offer bring up good points. If you utilize these resources, I’m confident you’ll find something you will enjoy.

I have been looking for some time but most have one one the other but not multiple of my requirements. When it has illumination and light weight it has capped turrets. So I was looking to see if anyone had one in particular. Have been around this for some time and Joe's videos are helpful and so are the posts on here but still trying to find that one scope that will will make me happy.

@brawler1588 I spent a considerable amount of time reading specs, forum posts, watching reviews, and drawing comparisons over the past week. I made a purchase yesterday. A lot of the info is still fresh in my mind. If you have time later those evening perhaps we can chat later and see if I may be able to help. I’m not the most knowledgeable person here, but I’d be happy to help if I can.

@brawler1588

Pesting for pest birds, ground squirrels, prairie dogs, and the other smallish targets, they're perfect out to 100. If you're using a large bore shooting slugs for larger game, they're good out to several hundred yards. Granted, I'm in my 20's, so if you have older eyes, you might want the 12x. I don't even mind the 10x shooting at 10 yards since the SWFA focuses that close.

I got a Vector Veyron in trade for some stuff. Thought I'd just keep it for an emergency backup. I ended up using it for a couple weeks on a rifle I was checking out & I REALLY like it! CRISP & CLEAR image at all magnification. Thin reticle, which I like but your mileage may vary. It's a 3x12x44 & I think they can be had for under $200. Discovery VT-Z is a good inexpensive one also. Hope that helps. Oh, no illumination on either. In 5 years I've never needed illuminated reticle. Don't think MOST people ever use it but I've been wrong before. BTW great clean clicks on the turrets for both of those & FFP for both.

As you know, I have the discovery. It’s great glass, and a nice reticle. Compact and light weight too, but I don’t know if I’d trust the turrets to be clickable. In fact, I don’t trust turrets on ANY scope under $500 to be clickable and repeatable. I would keep eyes on the classifieds for a “motivated seller” as Felix said. That’s how I got my almost all of my scopes.

This is an excellent scope that has been reliable & accurate for me on my HW95L through 2000/3000 shots BUT has capped turrets. IR, SF, compact, great glass, 4-16 x 44 mm with 30mm tube. https://us.hawkeoptics.com/airmax-30-sf-compact-4-16x44-amx-ir.html

Spend a little more, look at the Athlons... The Gen 2 Helos? Maybe an Argos?, they have a deep line up. As for an IR?, if you pest or shoot in and around buildings it's very handy to have. I passed up one shot too many on pests (rats) because the black reticle would disappear on darker critters. As for "repeatable, accurate" dialing? My Gen 1 Helos 6x24x50 FFP, IR with the APLR2 MOA reticle. I look through and use almost daily, I dial from 40 to 104 yards repeatably, and also use holdovers (to confirm clicks and just for fun). Love the no BS lifetime warranty, my next scope with be an Athlon.
