DNT TNC225R or DNT Zulus HD 5-20 with range finder

I am looking to upgrade to something a little lighter than my ATN 4K with the ABL attached. I looked at the ATN 5K with LRF refurb but it had problems so I sent it back and dont think I want to go that route. So I came across these two and wondering if its worth almost twice the price to go thermal or maybe another manufacturer in the same price range. Looking of a solid platform and no quirky bugs.

i bought a zulus without the lrf...and ended up getting a tnc225 as well. The tnc225 with thermal and ranging finding is transformative.
The non LRF 5-20 zulus is ok for rats at short range maybe, but when I needed something for 200 yard coyotes, the tnc225 is amazing. Just this last weekend I finally shot it at 235 yards. 3/4 shots on the steel plate...and all at the touch of a rangefinding button - normally zeroed at 50yards.

I haven't sold the zulus yet, but probably will list it some time this summer.

These little buggers are amazing! I've had a number of day/night scopes. Also used my buddies Zulus 520lrf which is phenomenal! But if you want that Thermal, these are it!

If you can afford thermal and range finding, do that. Otherwise the zulus as a day and low light optic has been great for me. I've never needed the ir for my purposes.

I keep looking at the tnc225 lrf. I am putting which ever one on my M3 sniper in .30 ca. for pesting out to 80 yards on average. Curious though how is their customer service and where are they serviced at.

I have the DNT

ZHD520R and I love it. At 23.5 oz it's very compact and very well made. I am not young anymore but, I have no problem hitting targets at 230 yards. The range finder is awesome! Can't wait for coyote season​

I went with the DNT TNC225R should be here today. The new 4K tube scope looks like a winner but could wait for its release.

I just have the regular ZHD520 no rangefinder and I also really love it. I’ve had it for like 6 weeks and already have lots of footage of squirrels getting whacked out to 125y… I also use it at night and it works beautifully. The standby mode makes preserving battery life a breeze. It’s lightweight and holds a zero very well considering this gun gets dragged up and down county you see in the pic. It rides as a truck gun too even though it’s clearly WAY too long for that…. I haven’t gotten a coyote with it yet but that day is coming soon.

My advice is if you can afford it get the thermal. You can do that Picture in Picture thermal/NV at once. That’s a freaking cheat code bro, use it haha…. I’m poor which is why I got the basic model but I’d be willing to sell some pretty weird feet pics for the thermal version.

As for menus and buttons the DNTs are amazingly easy to use.

If any programmers for dnt lurk here. If you guys buckled down and went crazy with programming and got the zulus to live time adjust for attitude and roll after ranging, everybody ive asked so far would be willing to pay for a premium software update that took advantage of the sensor suite closer to its full potential, to offset the cost of the programming time. I'd be willing to beta test updates too. Not bluetooth connected for weather but based of a loaded ballistics table for the alphabet organized personality folders. Nobody wants to mess with phone connectivity that I know that owns a zulus. 5 of us in my circle.

It does have the table capability, I just wouldn't want them to have it require Bluetooth. With the radios off its actually very good on battery life.

Direct contact is next, i do have a number for a guy that was involved when it was under the arken brand but I don't know how fruitful that will be. Free time is something I don't get a ton of these days.
