DLO on Vortex G3 6-36x56

At 1:05.50 a discussion begins about air rifles.

I didn't know this new scope focused down to 10Y. I'm not normally a Vortex fan but this scope sounds awesome in many ways. VERY HEAVY which can be an advantage for PRS or NRL, and expensive, but ............

Always loved DLO videos and he doesn’t get enough credit/audience especially for his incredible depth of knowledge. There is little doubt in my mind airguns especially Panthera will take rimfire world by storm!

The razor Gen 3 looks promising if/when it’s on sale, simply too many great/amazing scopes in that price range these days.

Thank you, Steve, for calling our attention to this scope. 👍🏼

Sightron recently offered us another amazing scope with crazy specs, with 10y pax:

The Sightron S8 (SVIII) 5-40x56 ED FFP.

❎ For those airgunners with deep pockets, or highly developed rationalization skills....

Yep DLO is pretty much the top expert in rifle scopes AFAIK.

Darn, this G3 has got me thinking, lol?!

You're welcome Matthias.

It'd be neat to do a side by side!

Takes lots of rationalization skills when the price gets this high for sure. I usually try to justify such a purchase by an offsetting, LOL - In other words, Uh, what to sell, what to sell???....

I really like Ilya and have wanted to see more on the 6-36 with the 10 yard focus. He knows his stuff and I trust his take. I have been trying hard not to buy one before the sale ends att year end for $2000, as I don’t have anything to put it on right now. Those were some very very good things they had to say comparing it to the cream of the crop. The II has always been well received in PRS circles, so I expected the III to do well, but I didn’t expect all they had to say. For him to say it is a great buy at $3k, I have to think he would think $2k is a steal.

I was surprised they had so much to say on air rifles. I didn’t realize Ilya used them so much. They even brought up the Panthers and RMAC in that video.

In total agreement here. I'm just not sure what airgun it will go on though. Maybe I need to buy a new airgun?...lol. I know it's usually the other way around.
🤦‍♂️

On another note, I've always watched DLO from the beginning and I don't know if it's just me but Ilya has such a soothing voice that it puts me to sleep lol.

I was thinking of selling one of my Cronus G2's which are on my Precision PB's so I could try out this scope. Every once in a while I like to take a scope off them to put on a AG but not having 10Y focus "at times" becomes an obstacle. I ran into this problem a couple weeks ago but normally 25Y min focus is fine.

They mentioned that the turrets weren't that good in the G3's they got for review(more so Covertnoob's) but were improved on the production runs. That's one thing I don't like is lackluster turrets. It's be pretty sad if the turrets weren't even as good as the ones on my Helos G2's.

I usually put vidoes on 1.5 speed that way I don't get put to sleep as easily.

I was thinking the same thing as well. I have a Cronus G2 currently not mounted on any guns right now. If I was to sell the Cronus and pick up the Vortex G3, it would have to be mounted on a bench gun because of the weight. Or like they say....maybe I need to work out more.

Contact Scott at Liberty Optics.

Wow, Liberty Optics seems to be another vendor I need to bookmark!!

Here's the Sightron S8 5-40x56 FFP
And despite this amazing magnification it has:
10y minimum parallax!!
• Elevation adjustment of 40mil = 135moa!!
• Field of view is 23.7—2.9ft (@100y) ➔ that means I could go ratting with this monster. Imagine aiming at a rat that fills the whole scope image side-to-side...! 😆
• It even comes with a set of rings (that are a tad wider than what I usually use... — 40mm!!).

Its price is a little higher than my usual scope budget, but hey... — A poor man cannot afford to buy cheap!
And Liberty Optics has $600 off the MRSP:

I want it! 😄

I wanted this one when it was $1600, but it hasn’t been that low in over a year. Kicked myself ever since for not buying it then. You have to wait for Sightron to give that discount. Scott ran these on sale at cost last month for $2117. Always reach out to him first. He will still probably do it during the current sale, but it isn’t automatic. The rings were always something I was a little worried about too… odd size and all with no spares… but people seem to be happy with them. You are limited to a couple aftermarket options.

All Vortex is 50% off MSRP right now, but ends 12/31. Can’t see it on the site. Message me if you want more details, or call or email Scott. People haven’t believed me in the past, but the ones that do always thank me later!

Scott almost always has the best deals, but you have to wait for them to show up on the deals page, or message him. I see him on another forum and he always gives his sale updates there. He is the one where I have shared links a few times, where he gets close outs from Sightrons as well, and they end up being much lower than you ever find anywhere else.

Well fellas… looks like I’ll be buying a new gun sometime soon to go with my new scope… I couldn’t hold off and placed my order with Scott. Guess I’ll have to try it out. A couple of you know that I love the Cronus as well, so I guess I’ll see if it really is worth paying up for. Some haven’t been worth (to me) paying more than a Cronus, so we’ll see.

Side note, pretty sure the Vortex Military discount is always 50% off MSRP, anytime of year, if you qualify. I’m not sure how the different retailers go about honoring that. People can bash the low end Vortex’s, but the Razors have been rock solid for years and I liked the Eagle I had.

Might it be going on a new Panther :D
Probably not. Love the new look, but I prefer a higher shot count and I’m a pellet shooter. I could just tether it I guess… I’m leaning more towards seeing what they do with it next when they add bigger bottles. Wish I hadn’t sold my last Crown, but I think they can put them together and make something I’m looking for.

Ha, we're not throwing you no "life preserver" Matthias.
Like a seed that dies in the ground and springs up new life so you must die to cheap scopes, lol.

Your religious allusions almost pushed me over the edge (of financial ruin), Steve.... 😲

This 5-40x56 scope at such an extreme discount is still much much more expensive than my most expensive gun....
And our forefathers had this saying they elevated to a law: "Your scope should cost as much as the rifle."
Nope, I guess I can't buy the scope.... 🤷‍♂️
