My boy and I went camping this weekend and we talked about things that boys talk about...guns and slingshots, dragons and swords...he's 6, almost 7. Anyway, we came up with an idea for how to make a slingshot similar to the PocketShot product that doesn't cost much at all and is easy to make. When we got home we started making a prototype and I filmed it to put on my YouTube channel. My boy was super excited about that. I started to edit the video after we finished and saw that two other prominent YouTube personalities had produced similar videos in the last week. I didn't intend to copy their ideas, but I guess if a good idea incubates long enough multiple people can "discover" it at the same time. Originally my thought was that this would be a fun project for children. We tested it using miniature marshmallows. I also found that foam ear-plugs work very well. But then I thought, "what about REAL ammo?" I tried some 3/8" steel BB shot that I have for my real slingshot and to my surprise it hurls those pretty well too. So, while not strictly airgun related, I think this might be worth sharing just because it actually is a potent weapon, and well, it's crazy fun.
