DIY Exilim Camera Mount

Well I just couldn't wait any loner for our US distributor to get the Eagle Vision camera mounts in stock, so over the weekend I made one of my own. By using some ABS plastic pipe and fittings and a piece of 1/8 thick aluminum as the materials, a small lathe and a drill press here's what I came up with and I didn't need to glue anything to the camera. The camera is solid. For all practical purposes, the tube is one piece. The adjustments are the 3 thumb screws, the 1/4-20 Soc Hd Cap Screw is all that is holding the camera on the mount. After getting the materials together it took about 5 hours to fab the parts. The cross-sectional view shows how it was made.

Crutch - I used 1-1/2" and 2" ABS plastic pipe and 2, 1-1/2 coupler and an end cap. Machined to fit the scope and the overall length is about 5.4 inches long from front of camera.

Scotty - check out the video to see the how well it records - I don't have but maybe 1 hour messing with the setup, so I don't know how much it could improve.

Krasiml - Really nice job - I didn't have the guts to attempt to thread the parts with that fine of a thread - what is the thread?
Also nice job with the anodize. And I like the thumb screws. I made the rear part of my tube tight enough that it only required 1 set of screws to make the adjustment.

Did you need to bond the ring to the camera? The ZR-1100 has a programmable ring that spins that can do different funtions and I didn't want to bond the ring to the camera. Your is slimmer and I like that about yours

Thank you , Killzone. I have a friend who has a business with metalworking machinery and he did this for me as a gift. This is not my craftsmanship.Thread on the side of the scope is 36 x 0.6 mm and on the side of the camera is 44 x 0.6 mm

Does it matter how far the camera is from the scope? Would rather have it close to the scope instead of far away. Or Is It based on the cameras abilities to focus

It's based on the eye relief of the scope. I have an adapter for my iPhone camera that I have used very close to the lens on a spotting scope with very little eye relief. When I used the same adapter with my Hawke scope, I had to use an extension to move it about 3"+ away from the lens.
