DIY benchrest ideas

I found some oak stair treads that were dumpster bound on a job having been rejected by the carpenter and got to thinking.

I prefer to make things when I can, looking for ideas on what I can set the guns on.

Here's what I threw together last weekend. I still have a few things left to do to it. Some hooks and a bit of a rack for stowing shooting bags and rifle cases when not in use. Also plan to seal the top with polyurethane and cover it with vinyl fabric to make it more comfortable to lean on. And a handle so I can move it like a wheelbarrow. The wheels make it really easy to get all my gear out to my little range/shooting gallery now.

You know your shooting buddy has a big heart when he adds a second window to his Pellet Palace. The least I could do is build matching benches. Now we can shoot at the same time. I do not remember seeing benchrests with shelves so space was added for pellets, mags, beverages, etc.
I thought they turned out well considering they were completed with leftover materials.
Using plywood on the back panel, notched 2Xs and 3"& 4" screws; they will not wobble. Shooting for recreation not competition, I think they are acceptable.
