So I've purchased and sold numerous guns (as we all do) in the effort of finding that "right" gun. I've owned and shot a FX Streamline, Bantam Brocock, and Taipan Veteran. Each gun had superb build quality, accuracy and triggers.
I recently recieved a bday email from Midway and saw I could purchase the super hyped Gauntlet and a couple extra magazines for a bday price; so, I decided to see if the gun would live up to its hype.
I received the gun today...disgusting trigger out of the box, pop gun report, and general build quality issues (scratches, misalignment, crack, machining markings, etc). I cleaned the barrel and to no surprise this ugly gun took a ton of patches before they came out acceptably clean. At this point in my initial date with the gauntlet, I was convinced this gun was going back and it was not worth the price I paid.
I put on a scope and filled a magazine with 15.89 JSB pellets. I placed a target at 35 yards and shot ....a pellet on pellet group...then 45 yards...then 55 yards....this is a gun I think I'll love to hate, but wow even with a horrible trigger out of the box, this baby is accurate. It was holding it's own against my higher priced guns with me behind the trigger.
Looks are great, but accuracy rules. Sometimes disgusting looking things taste good I guess.
