Having this thread resurface compelled me to offer my experience with my lower end entry level Discovery scope.
After reading so much good "hype" about these scopes several months ago I decided to try one for myself. I don't do any long range targeting or pesting so I don't need a scope with the highest variable powers. I ordered a VT 2 3-12x40SF a $120 scope. Initial thoughts of this scope were good for what I purchased it for and it seemed to be solid and fairly well made. I mounted it to a Condor SS and sighted in at 25yds, all good. After a few more shooting sessions I chose to re-zero to longer distances and the scope seemed to become quite less clear - sharp when re-focusing, something I felt was not acceptable.
I emailed Airgun Optics Plus quality control address and received a reply to my inquiry about the "loss OR lack of sharpness when focusing" in short time. I was told, "if you care to return the scope (@ my cost) it would be examined for fault, IF deemed acceptable it would be returned NOT replaced" , not the reply I'd hoped for. I phoned Airgun Optics Plus hoping for some better response, and was told "you bought a $120 scope....what do you expect?" Can't disagree with that, but, I shouldn't question that even a $120 scope should be able to make the buyer happy?
I removed the scope from the Condor, re-mounted it to another pcp that I use at shorter distances in hoping to be able to "live" with the level of clarity. While re-zeroing on that gun, I would get a shot close to zero, make needed turret adjustments, then get a wild flyer off inches from the previous close shot,, this went on for several shots before I decided to remove the scope and check the reticle / turret movements using the mirror method. While looking through into the mirror I noticed the reticle was very jumpy - erratic with the turret clicks, that's not how a reticle should behave, my Hawkes or Nikons scopes don't move that way in the mirror.
So now another emailed description of my concerns with this scope to Airgun Optics Plus asking for an RA #...…. the first was returned as "Undeliverable" mail demon, so I tried another address and still waiting as I've NOT received ANY reply as yet and it's been WEEKS since ? I'm kind of at the point of "I got what I paid for" and this is a throw-away scope like many other products of the world we exist in.
