Had a banner day. Had 3 tree rats come into the yard this morning. The Forest Gnome, aka Leshiy is always on hand for such varmints. Tuned to shoot 610 FPS, Huma sub 12, but actually shoots 19 FPE on a 105 bar setting with .25 25.89 grain pellets. The 3rd one got away.

Later in the day, I went outside and the 3rd one came back and was eating at my “table for 1” that I set out with peanuts and such. My FX Wildcat in .22, 135 bar, HST setting 7 with HST set at about 5.8mm length inside, shooting Varmint Knocker slugs .22grain at 990 FPS or 49 FPE. First blood for the FX Wildcat today. Awesome gun. I never shot any varmint with a slug. The Wildcat groups them at .355” at 50 yards and is a sweet package to shoot.

I actually like the Leshiy the best for close in tree rat hunting, it is just too damn handy in a yard that only has 50 yards to shoot. However, there is a huge difference between shooting a pellet and a slug at over twice the FPE. The tree rat went flying when the slug connected.

Both guns are quiet and deadly and have a place in my arsenal.

Hope y’all had a great day also today. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and I hope Santa brings what you need to shoot tree rats or whatever fair game you prefer!
