Diet for Marauder

I had a Gen 1 Mrod and reworked the stock removing 1 pound of wood. Made the ugly stock much nicer.

One thing I found with the composite stock is it torques a decent bit, too much for my liking. Maddog stocks might be a choice, Ive never used one though. Boyds doesnt save much weight. Besides that mods to make it lighter would be lighter tube, lighter scope, short shroud, light hammer, light scope, shave off ounces to save a pound. O just remove mass from the factory stock.

There isn't much you can really do for them except get the lightest optics you can find and mount them low. Let's face it, she's about 8 lbs without her clothes on. I've seen some conversions that have no wood stock. It was Citrus Airguns, I believe. They used the Marauder pistol trigger group and an adapter to accept an AR buffer tube and buttstock. That would remove some weight, but I doubt the balance gets any better with that monstrous steel tube hanging in front of the trigger. And it appears they may no longer be in business,

Agree the optics is the biggest game changer on weight. Look on ebay for an old (20-30 year old) 3-9 variable Weaver. Light weight, and it has a lifetime warranty. No frills but solid mechanics and glass. Made in the USA, and plenty accurate for me to shoot one-hole groups out of my P-Rod at 15 yards.

Help! My Marauder is just too danged heavy. What can be done/changed to sut weight? Any aftermarket stocks out there that are lighter? Used to be an aluminum air tube, are those still available anywhere? Help!
Thanks
Chris
I just got done with putting my Marauder Semi-auto on a diet. To make it balanced and pull to the shoulder easy I cut off 6" of the forestock and a total of 1 1/4" of the butt including the rubber pad.

I am considering a stock chop myself, but I've decided to experiment with losing the optics all together and going with peep sights. I've done all I can myself by creating the front blade in OpenSCAD and printing it. I have a DFL Tanto I swap between the Dreamline and the Mrod and this slips tight enough to grip the knurl on the part of the adapter that attaches to the shroud. So it is sorta clickable and easy to center up. Then the thread protector holds the deal in place. It isn't fool proof, but it'll do. Now I just have to pony up about $80 for a proper rear sight, weighing somewhere around 2oz. If it works out, I save 24oz of top-heavy scope weight.
